New and troubling details have surfaced surrounding the death of Victoria Kafka Jones, the 34-year-old daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones.
As reported by TMZ and People, a witness at the scene reportedly told first responders that Victoria had been using cocaine in the hours leading up to her death. The former actress was found unresponsive at the historic Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco early New Year’s Day.
While the official cause of death is pending toxicology results, these witness statements align with emergency dispatch audio that characterized the scene as a possible overdose. This development adds a tragic layer to the story as the Jones family mourns their sudden loss.
According to reports, Victoria was partying with a small group of three or four people in her hotel room when the medical emergency occurred. A source cited by TMZ claims that when paramedics arrived, a person present explicitly mentioned her recent cocaine use.
This account supports the dispatch audio obtained by People magazine. In the recording, the emergency is classified as a “Code 3 for the overdose, color change.” Medical experts note that “color change” often refers to cyanosis. This is a blue or purple discoloration of the skin caused by a lack of oxygen, which is a common sign of opioid or drug overdose.
First responders reportedly noted a “blue tinge” on Victoria’s lips and fingertips upon arrival. Despite attempts to revive her with CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 3 a.m.
The witness allegations come amid revelations that Victoria had been struggling with substance abuse issues throughout 2025.
Court records reviewed by NBC Bay Area indicate she was arrested in April 2025 in Napa County. In that incident, deputies charged her with possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. The police report noted she had “dried blood around her nose” and white residue on her tongue. Her husband at the time reportedly told officers she had been using cocaine for two days straight.
She faced further legal trouble in May 2025 for public intoxication in Santa Cruz County and again in June for misdemeanor domestic battery. Authorities stated the domestic incident stemmed from an argument over her drug and alcohol use.
San Francisco authorities have reiterated that no foul play is suspected in her death. The investigation is now focused on the medical examiner’s findings, which could take several weeks to finalize.
If toxicology reports corroborate the witness account, it would confirm that the tragedy was an accidental overdose. For now, the case remains open. The Jones family has asked for privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
