In today’s, Maven Monday I am going to tell you 4 of the common reasons your online marketing isn’t working and how to improve.

1. Plan but also have a plan B
It is pretty obvious that you need a marketing pan but the amount of companies I have witnessed starting marketing without a plan.
* You need to make sure you plan integrates with the business plan
* What if your marketing doesn’t work? You need a plan B

2. Having a vested interest in just one channel
When you have one marketing channel it works great. For instance, sometimes people use pay per click online advertising and it can work perfectly but then after time, you feel that you are not expanding or you are getting the same results. For example:

* You can have lots of visits for SEO but no website conversions
* Alternatively, you could have a great website but it cannot be found
* Great PPC click through rate but no conversions on the landing page
* Great email content but crap data ending up with lots of bounces and unsubscribes
* Fantastic social media content but no followers





To improve this look at automating your channels. Or come with a plan – that piece of content becomes a video, a web page, a social post and an email.
Also, you need to join up the channels with an omni-channel approach. Omni-what? What it means is having the same great marketing on multiple channels.

3. You are not speaking to your audience

Often people have a scatter gun approach and don’t speak to their customers needs. Marketing is not one size fits all. This will mean you will have poor content, data won’t be good and you will be talking to be on the wrong channels.

What do you need to do? You need to create a buyer persona and have a better understanding of your audience.

4. Time
Finally, the reason why people fail is time!

You are looking for results too quickly from a channel and are changing before it can make a full effect. For example, SEO can take long. If you need a quick fix you should be looking at Google Ads to faster results.

You are not spending enough time on marketing. Maybe you are doing a million and one things and you don’t have enough time to do marketing properly.

To help with this there are some time management tools. That will see how long tasks are taking – time doctor, Rescue Time or just set a timer. If you need help hire a new marketing person or outsource
