Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported newlywed standoff is not between the couple. An anonymous-source report claims Swift’s three cats are still adjusting to the energetic white dog recently seen traveling with Kelce.
Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice newsletter quoted one unnamed insider as saying Swift and Kelce are “doing great,” while their pets are allegedly having a harder time blending into one household.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the reported pet tension. They also have not formally introduced the fluffy white dog seen with Kelce or publicly confirmed its name or breed.
Shuter published the claims as Kelce returned to Kansas City Chiefs training camp and made his first public comments about the ceremony. “The wedding was the best night of my life,” Kelce said, according to The Associated Press, before turning his attention back to football.
The Dog Reportedly Wants to Play While Swift’s Cats Want Their Space
“The dog wants to play every minute of the day, while the cats want peace, quiet, and personal space,” one unnamed source told Naughty But Nice, comparing the situation to “three tiny divas” negotiating a peace treaty. According to Shuter’s report, Swift’s cats are not enthusiastic about an energetic dog disrupting their established routine, while the dog reportedly keeps trying to make friends.
The newsletter claims Swift and Kelce are handling the adjustment patiently by giving each animal attention and allowing them to adapt at their own pace. Another source said there was no reason for concern and claimed the pets were increasingly able to share the same room. “It may not be cuddling yet, but they’re making progress every week,” the source said.
Swift’s three cats are Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, both Scottish Folds, and Benjamin Button, a Ragdoll she adopted after meeting him while filming the “ME!” music video in 2019. PEOPLE reports that all three have appeared throughout Swift’s public life, while Benjamin joined her for one of her 2023 Time Person of the Year covers.
The Couple Has Not Publicly Introduced the White Dog

Speculation that Swift and Kelce had added a dog to their family intensified on July 12, when Kelce was photographed arriving in Palm Beach, Florida, on a private jet also carrying a large, fluffy white dog. PEOPLE noted that the animal appears to be a Samoyed, but its breed has not been confirmed. Similar-looking footage had previously circulated showing a fluffy white dog exiting one of Swift’s vehicles.
There had already been another clue at the couple’s wedding. Cosmopolitan reported that leaked footage of the wedding venue’s entryway showed large framed photographs of Swift and Kelce, including an image that appeared to show the couple holding a fluffy white puppy.
Swift’s affection for cats, meanwhile, has been part of her public persona for years. “They’re very dignified. They’re independent,” she told Time in 2019. “They’re very capable of dealing with their own life.”
Swift Previously Defended Her Cats to the Kelce Family
Swift discussed her cats with Travis and Jason Kelce during her August 2025 appearance on New Heights. Jason had previously joked to his daughters that cats were poisonous in an attempt to discourage them from wanting one. Swift said that once the children met her pets, she made it her mission to prove him wrong.
“It was actually really a great challenge because as soon as I got the kids around the cats, it was my goal to prove to them that they weren’t poisonous,” Swift said. She started with Benjamin, whom she described as a Ragdoll who allows people to hold him like a baby. Swift said Jason’s daughters soon began seeking out her cats, petting them and picking them up.
Swift later asked Jason what he thought of her “three perfect little angels.” He acknowledged that Benjamin was the only one who willingly approached him, while Meredith and Olivia kept their distance.
