Stefon Diggs can finally check one major legal headache off his roster. The New England Patriots’ wide receiver has officially seen the end of a contentious paternity battle that has shadowed him for over a year. On Wednesday, Aileen Lopera, the Instagram model and influencer who sued Diggs in late 2024, filed a motion to dismiss her lawsuit “without prejudice.”
The filing comes as a surprise conclusion to a saga that involved public denials, court-ordered DNA testing, and a very messy timeline involving Diggs’ current girlfriend, rap superstar Cardi B.
While a dismissal “without prejudice” technically means Lopera could refile the case, all signs point to a private settlement. Lopera’s attorney, Tamar Arminak, issued a brief but telling statement to TMZ following the filing: “The matter has been resolved.”
The legal pivot is sharp. Just months ago, Lopera, who is known online as Lord Gisselle, was fighting tooth and nail for custody and support.
Lopera originally filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court in December 2024 while she was still pregnant. At the time, she sought full legal and physical custody of her unborn child. When the baby girl named Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera was born in April 2025, Diggs initially contested paternity.
In court filings from July 2025, Diggs stated he was “not certain” he was the father and demanded genetic testing. That gamble didn’t pay off. By November 2025, reports confirmed that DNA results established Diggs as the biological father.
The sudden dismissal suggests that a confidential agreement regarding child support and custody has likely been reached behind closed doors. In high-profile celebrity paternity cases, a dismissal “without prejudice” is often the strategic “pause button” used to enforce a private settlement. It essentially tells the court that the plaintiff is satisfied for now but reserves the right to return the defendant to court if the agreed-upon payments stop.
By settling, Diggs avoids a public trial that would have aired his financial laundry and personal messages. It is a massive win for an athlete who famously told reporters, “We don’t talk too much about my personal life.”
The Cardi B Complication

What made this legal battle tabloid gold wasn’t just the baby. It was the other baby. Throughout the entire paternity dispute, Diggs has been in a high-profile relationship with Cardi B. The timelines of the two relationships appeared to overlap uncomfortably, fueling months of gossip blog speculation. Lopera’s daughter was born in April 2025. Just months later, in September, Cardi B announced she was expecting her own child with Diggs.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper even seemed to address the drama on Instagram Live last fall. Without naming Lopera, she referenced the messy reality of blended families and quoted the soul classic “Woman to Woman” by saying, “That’s your baby daddy? That’s my baby daddy, too… We’ll figure it out.”
Cardi and Diggs welcomed their child, who is Diggs’ third and Cardi’s fourth, in November 2025. This happened right around the same time the paternity of Lopera’s daughter was confirmed. The optics of welcoming a “public” baby with a superstar while simultaneously battling a “private” baby in court created a PR minefield that Diggs has navigated with characteristic silence.
A Pattern of Legal Trouble?
While the paternity suit is effectively over, Diggs isn’t completely out of the legal woods. The receiver is still facing fallout from a separate incident involving his former personal chef.
In December 2025, a chef employed by Diggs filed a lawsuit alleging the NFL star became physically aggressive during a dispute over unpaid wages at his home. The chef claims Diggs cornered him in the kitchen and threatened him.

Diggs’ legal team has vehemently denied those accusations. They called the suit a “shakedown” and claim the chef is trying to exploit his celebrity status for a payday. However, the resolution of the Lopera case allows Diggs to focus his defense entirely on that remaining front.
Despite the legal maneuvering, a real child is at the center of the story. Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera is now nine months old.
In her initial filings, Lopera had given the child Diggs’ surname even before paternity was established. It was a bold move that has now been vindicated. While Diggs had previously requested joint custody if he was proven to be the father, it remains unclear what the final custody arrangement looks like.
For now, the only public acknowledgment of the resolution is the quiet filing of a single document. No press conference, no Instagram post, just a signature that ends the case.
Diggs is currently in the offseason following a turbulent year with the Patriots. With his family life expanding rapidly, he now has children with Lopera, Cardi B, and his eldest daughter, Nova, from a previous relationship. The wide receiver is likely looking to keep a low profile until training camp.
As for Lopera, the “resolved” statement suggests she has secured the support she publicly demanded last year. As her lawyer noted back in November: “My client looks forward to the day Mr. Diggs acknowledges and provides for his infant daughter.” It appears that day has finally come.
