Rod Stewart canceled two Las Vegas residency shows hours before taking the stage, telling fans he is on vocal rest while recovering from a sinus infection.
The 81-year-old singer had been scheduled to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 29 and May 30 as part of his The Encore Shows residency. Both performances were canceled before doors opened.
“My apologies to my family of fans,” Stewart said in a statement cited by Fox News. “I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”
Stewart Was Told to Rest His Voice
A representative for Stewart said the cancellations followed medical advice. The statement said Stewart “regretfully cancelled” the May 29 and May 30 performances but was scheduled to return with shows beginning June 2.
Ticketmaster listed the May 30 show as canceled, while upcoming Caesars Palace dates on June 2, June 4 and June 6 remained listed.
Fox News reported that at least one concertgoer said they received a cancellation notice less than two hours before the planned 7:30 p.m. start time.
The Canceled Shows Were Part of His Caesars Palace Return
Stewart’s current Las Vegas run follows his long association with Caesars Palace. A Caesars announcement said he launched Rod Stewart: The Hits. at The Colosseum in 2011 and returned by popular demand with The Encore Shows in 2025 after the original residency concluded in 2024.
The same announcement listed previously announced May and June 2026 performances at the venue, along with six additional August dates.
Stewart has also been touring with One Last Time, his farewell to large-scale world tours. He has said the tour does not mean he plans to retire from performing altogether.
Refunds Are Expected for the Canceled Dates
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that fans who bought tickets were sent refund instructions after the shows were pulled from the schedule.
The cancellation gives Stewart only a few days to recover before his next listed Caesars Palace performance. His statement pointed fans toward future Caesars Palace dates and his summer tour rather than suggesting a longer break from the stage.
