Post-War Social Housing: Queensway, Gainsborough

Post-War Social Housing: Queensway, Gainsborough

Social Housing (though some or all will now have been sold off into private hands) on Queensway, in Gainsborough. Built in the early 1950s, (see below) these flats would have been a joy to most of their original occupants, who were moved from the Town’s slum-clearance areas. By and large, communities were kept together – former neighbours in a demolished Victorian tenement in the old Town would find they often had the same neighbours in the new housing blocks. Queensway also had it’s own row of shops.
