OnlyFans Star Who Made $95 Million Fires Again At Florida Politician’s ‘Sin Tax’ — As Information Exhibits Floridians Rank Amongst World’s Prime Spenders

A Florida gubernatorial candidate is facing backlash after proposing a 50% tax on OnlyFans creators — and the platform’s highest-earning star isn’t letting it slide.

Sophie Rain, a 21-year-old Miami-based content creator who has reportedly earned over $95 million on OnlyFans in just two years, clapped back at James Fishback after he publicly demanded she “pay up or quit.”

Rain pointed out what she sees as a glaring contradiction in his proposal: the very voters Fishback is courting are the ones funding her income.

“Conservatives are my top spenders,” Rain told TMZ, “so trying to take the moral high ground here is pretty hypocritical.”

What Is The ‘Sin Tax’ Proposal?

Fishback, a Republican candidate in Florida’s 2026 gubernatorial race, announced the proposal during an interview with right-wing YouTube channel NXR Studios.

He said he would impose a 50% state tax on all earnings made by OnlyFans creators living in Florida. He called OnlyFans an “online degeneracy platform” and framed the tax as a way to discourage young women from “selling their bodies to sick men online.”

“It is called a sin tax because it’s a sin,” Fishback said. He added that the revenue would fund public education, crisis pregnancy centers, and a “mental health czar” for men.

After the clip went viral, Fishback took things further by tagging Rain directly on X.

“Hey @SophieRaiin, Pay up or quit OnlyFans,” he wrote. “As Florida Governor, I will not allow a generation of smart and capable young women to sell their bodies online.”

Who Is Sophie Rain?

Rain is one of the most successful creators in OnlyFans history. The Miami-based 21-year-old went viral in late 2024 after sharing a screenshot showing her platform earnings had surpassed $83 million. By November 2025, that figure had climbed to over $95 million.

Unlike many top earners on the platform, Rain has built her brand around a specific persona: she identifies as a devout Christian and a virgin, and has stated publicly that she has “never posted nude” content.

She is also the co-founder of the Bop House, a content creator mansion in Fort Lauderdale that houses multiple OnlyFans creators.

Rain typically stays out of political debates, but she told TMZ that Fishback’s proposal crossed a line.

“I don’t involve myself in politics,” she said. “But there was no way in hell I was going to let this one slide.”

Rain Accused Fishback Of ‘Starting Beef For Clout’

Rain wasted no time responding to Fishback’s post.

“Sounds like you subscribed and got buyer’s remorse after dropping your annual salary on an OF girl,” she fired back on X.

In a follow-up video, Rain said she never expected “a Florida politician to start beef with me for clout.” She pointed out that she already pays 37% in federal taxes and questioned why creators were being singled out.

“I would be more than happy to pay that, if multi-billion dollar corporations were also being properly taxed,” she said. “But surprise, they’re not.”

In a statement to People, Rain called the proposal “the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of” and challenged its moral framing.

“How do you charge a sin tax to a Christian who hasn’t sinned?” she said. “No one ever forced me to start an OnlyFans. It was MY decision, so I don’t need a 31-year-old man telling me I can’t sell my body online. I am a Christian, God knows what I am doing, and I know he is happy with me — that’s the only validation I need.”

Data Shows Florida Is Among The World’s Biggest OnlyFans Markets

Rain’s claim that conservatives are her biggest customers appears to be supported by spending data.

According to OnlyGuider’s “OnlyFans Wrapped 2025” report, two Florida cities rank among the top four in the entire world for per-capita OnlyFans spending.

Orlando came in second globally, with residents spending $466,430 per 10,000 people. Miami ranked fourth at $374,921 per 10,000 residents. Both cities outpaced major markets across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

In other words, Fishback is proposing to tax creators in a state where residents are among the planet’s most dedicated OnlyFans customers.

Rain addressed this directly.

“Florida is OnlyFans central,” she said. “You are just going to drive them out of the state, then what?”

Studies Have Long Shown Conservative States Consume More Adult Content

The pattern extends beyond Florida.

A 2009 Harvard Business School study by Benjamin Edelman found that eight of the top 10 states for online pornography subscriptions voted for John McCain in the 2008 presidential election. States where a majority of residents said they held “old-fashioned values about family and marriage” purchased more adult content than states where residents disagreed.

More recent data tells a similar story. Atlanta, located in traditionally conservative Georgia, ranked first globally for per-capita OnlyFans spending in 2025 at $525,475 per 10,000 residents.

Texas — another historically red state — had three cities in the top 20 for OnlyFans spending in the Americas: Houston ($32 million), Dallas ($26 million), and Austin ($17.5 million).

Fishback Is A Long-Shot Candidate With A Controversial Past

Fishback is considered a long-shot in the race to succeed term-limited Governor Ron DeSantis. His first campaign fundraising report showed he has raised just $950, with half of that coming from a single donor. He trails Trump-backed frontrunner Byron Donalds significantly in early polling, attracting only around 3% support.

The candidate has also faced scrutiny over past allegations. According to NBC News, the Broward County School District cut ties with Fishback in 2022 over sexual misconduct allegations involving a then-17-year-old girl. Fishback has denied the allegations, telling Florida Politics he was “fully exonerated of any wrongdoing.”

He has also drawn bipartisan criticism for posts targeting Donalds, who is Black. Fishback deliberately misspelled Donalds’ name as “By’rone” on X and claimed the congressman “wants to turn Florida into a Section 8 ghetto.” He has also referred to Donalds as a “slave.”

Despite the backlash, Fishback doubled down, writing on X: “Sophie is pissed at me because she’s about to pay the State of Florida $42 million in taxes, which I’ll proudly use to increase teacher pay and improve school lunches.”

Rain Said The Proposal Would Hurt Thousands Of Women

Rain warned that the tax would have consequences beyond her own income.

“You’re not just going after me,” she said. “You’re going after thousands of women who make an honest living online. Drive them out, and you’re going to see what happens to local business, rental demand, tourism — all of it. We spend money here.”

She also predicted the proposal wouldn’t survive legislative scrutiny.

“He says this bill will be the ‘first of its kind,’” Rain said. “The second that bill gets on the senate floor, it will be the ‘last of its kind.’”
