Not one for electric vehicles, Toyota has introduced the 2024 offering of their beloved Land Cruiser as a hybrid. According to a report from Car and Driver, the world’s most successful car manufacturer has also revealed new crucial tidbits about the 2024 Land Cruiser’s pricing and trim levels.

Going Retro

The base trim for the 2024 Land Cruiser is called the “1958.” Land Cruiser fans know 1958 as the first year the iconic 4×4 was available in the United States. Car and Driver reports that the 1958 will hit dealership lots this spring with a starting price tag of $57,345.

The 1958 will have cloth seats and an 8-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its front seats will also be heated and manually adjustable. Other features in the 1958 include a pushbutton start, keyless entry, a blind-spot monitor, and automatic climate control. The 1958 trim also sports round LED headlights instead of the rectangular ones that the next trim comes with. Additionally, the 1958 will feature LED fog lights while rolling on 18-inch wheels with 245/70 all-season tires. It will also feature four-wheel drive and Crawl Control, which Car and Driver describes ascruise control for off-roading.

The Mid-Tier

Toyota is simply calling the next level up the Land Cruiser. Its starting price is $63,345. The mid-level trim comes with front seats that are both heated and ventilated. It also sports SofTex upholstery, larger display screens, a power liftgate, and a 10-speaker audio system. The mid-tier Land Cruiser also features a Multi-Terrain Monitor that utilizes various cameras to assist drivers in avoiding obstacles while off-roading.

Car and Driver also notes that Toyota has made a Premium package available for the mid-trim Land Cruiser. The Premium package includes:

  • Leather seats
  • A digital rearview mirror
  • A head-up display
  • A 14-speaker JBL audio system
  • A sunroof
  • Additional USB ports
  • A cooler in the center console

Toyota has yet to reveal the price for the Premium package.

The Top Dog

For Land Cruiser fans who are fine with dropping $76,345 on the hybrid SUV, the top-tier trim, the First Edition, is the way to go. The First Edition combines the round LED headlights of the 1958 trim with all the cool features of the mid-tier Premium package. However, Car and Driver notes that the First Edition also sports different 18-inch wheels and comes with a special badge, rock rails, a front skid plate, and a roof rack.

They also report that the First Edition will come with mud flaps behind the wheels, a tailgate light, and a rear door guard. Toyota will offer it in seven colors, including a new one called Meteor Shower.

Other Land Cruiser Specs

A report from Motor1 notes that the 2024 Land Cruiser differs from the 2021 model in that the latter could seat up to eight people, while the former only has room for five. The 2021 Land Cruiser also came with 8,200 pounds of towing capacity. In comparison, the 2024 edition can only tow 6,000 pounds.

Car and Driver reports that each trim level for the 2024 Land Cruiser sports a hybrid powertrain with a turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-four combustion engine capable of generating 326 horsepower. It also comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Toyota rates the Land Cruiser’s powertrain as getting 23 miles per gallon.
