Rubber is used for a variety of purposes from erasing pencil marks to manufacturing of tires, tubes and a large number of industrial products. The first rubber plantations in India were set up in 1895 on the hill slopes of Kerala.
India is the third largest natural rubber producing country of the world, next to Thailand and Indonesia, producing about 9 per cent of the global output.
Kerala is the largest producer of natural rubber producing 595 thousand tones or 92 per cent of total rubber production of India
In India, consumption of rubber is almost always higher than the production and the production- consumption gap is likely to widen as the rate of consumption is faster than that of production.
Indian rubber board is giving training and technologies for making various products using rubber as ingredient.
In this video I am trying to give a general idea about some products which are widely using in India and abroad.
