Get Free Stuff on Shein (Free Trial & Factors)

Free stuff on Shein comes from four places: the Free Trial Center, points, in-app invite games and rewards apps that pay out in gift cards. Below are the rules Shein itself publishes for each, what the people who tried them got, and why a company spending $6.19 billion a year on marketing hands out clothes.

Key takeaways

  • Free Trial Center: three applications a week, selection is random and weighted by what you have bought, and you file a photo review within 10 days.
  • Points pay about 1%: a review with a photo and your size earns 17 points, they cover at most half an order, and they expire in 90 days.
  • The invite games have no published rules: Shein posts official rules for its other games and none at all for the invite ones.
  • Legit, with a record: Shein ships what it awards, but French regulators fined it €40 million after finding 57% of checked discount claims were not reductions.
  • Steadier savings: cash back, the $29 free-shipping line, one free return per order, and a gift card bought with rewards-app earnings.

How Shein’s Free Offers Work

Shein runs its free offers under names that appear inside the app: Free Trial Center, SHEIN Points, Check-In, CreditsBox and a rotating set of invite games its own code calls dog (Puppy Keep), moneyTree, magicDraw and cashReward. Each has its own terms, and some of those terms are published while others are not.

Four rules from Shein’s own policies apply across all of them.

  • Nothing you earn is cash. Shein’s US Bonus Point Policy says points have “no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash or Wallet credit”, and its Terms of Use say nothing in the Shein Wallet has cash value.
  • Rewards are locked to one country’s site. Points, credits and gift cards can only be spent on the Shein site that issued them, so a UK or EU balance is dead on the US site.
  • Free gifts cannot be returned. Shein’s return policy lists “free gifts” among the items it will not take back. A prize that does not fit is yours for good.
  • Shein can end any of it. The points policy reserves the right to deduct points it judges fraudulent and to “terminate the SHEIN Points Program at any time for any reason upon reasonable notice”.
The four routes, from Shein’s own rule pages and the partner apps’ own terms, October 2026.

4 Ways to Get Free Stuff on Shein

These four deliver something at no cost. Ways to save money on an order you pay for come further down.

SHEIN Free Trial Center

This is the one offer built to send you a free item. You apply for products inside the app, under More Services, and if you are picked the item ships at no charge and you write a review of it. Shein’s Free Trial help center is the only document that sets out how it works, and the US and European versions differ.

What the US page states:

  • You must be 18 or older. Shein’s general terms set the floor at 16 for using the site, but the Free Trial sets its own higher limit.
  • Three applications a week, with no carry-over. “You get 3 opportunities per week… These opportunities do not aggregate”, so an unused try is gone.
  • Selection is random and weighted. Winners are “randomly selected through our system, which may consider your SHEIN account’s and Free Trial participation’s integrity history”. The European page adds that it weighs “how much they have bought in the past”.
  • About a week to hear back. Status moves from Pending to Approved or Failed, and the picked names are posted on the Free Trial Center page.
  • A photo review within 10 days. Shein asks for a full-body shot plus two detail photos, within 10 days of the item arriving.
  • 20 points, plus 100 for a “Quality Review”. A review that fails the requirements earns nothing, and Shein does not publish what makes a review a quality one.
  • You keep the item. “It is yours to keep as a thank you for your participation.”
  • Shipping is free, duty is not. “Shipping fees are all covered by us. However, you may be required to pay Customs Duty.” Lost parcels are not reshipped.

Two gaps matter more than any of that. There is no published acceptance rate, no visible cap on winners per week, and no criteria you can act on. Any guide naming a number of orders that unlocks the Free Trial has invented it.

Being refused is documented. A complainant on the consumer site Sikayetvar wrote in June 2026 that they had applied regularly for about a year and been rejected every time, with no reason given. Skipping the review has a published cost: Shein says not submitting one “will directly affect your participation in new Free Trials in the future”.

Worth it? Yes, because three applications a week cost nothing but a few taps. Expect long stretches with no win, and do not plan around it.

What Shein's free offers actually pay (Shein's own published figures, except the check-in total, which is a coupon site's staff test): 17 points for a review with a photo and your size (US Bonus Point Policy, 10 Feb 2025); 1% back in points on what you spend (1 point per $1; $1 per 100 points); $4.94 from three months of daily check-ins (The Krazy Coupon Lady staff test); $29 US order before shipping is free ($15 on Sundays and Thursdays).
Sources: Shein’s US Bonus Point Policy (effective 10 February 2025) and Shipping Info, both read 13 October 2026; the dollar value of points is the rate Shein publishes on its non-US points page, as the US page gives no rate. The check-in figure is The Krazy Coupon Lady’s own staff test.

SHEIN Points From Reviews and Check-Ins

Points are Shein’s loyalty currency, and the US Bonus Point Policy effective 10 February 2025 governs them. You earn 1 point for each dollar you spend, on the price after discounts, and only once you confirm delivery. Taxes, shipping and fees earn nothing.

Reviews are where the guides concentrate, and the policy breaks the reward down: 5 points for a written review, 10 more for a product photo and 2 more for size information, to a maximum of 17 per item. Shein’s review guidance adds 50 points if a review is picked for its style gallery, and requires at least 20 words.

From Shein’s US Bonus Point Policy, review guidance and shipping pages, read 13 October 2026. The check-in figure is The Krazy Coupon Lady’s measured result.

The dollar figures need a caveat the guides skip. Shein’s US policy states the earn rate and caps points at 50% of an order’s product total, but it does not print a redemption rate. The “100 points = $1” everyone quotes is Shein’s own wording, on its non-US points page, not on the US one.

Points expire, and the term is the clearest example of Shein telling shoppers less than it tells investors. The US policy says only that “each set of SHEIN Points has an expiration date”. Its listing prospectus, written for the Hong Kong market, states it plainly: “The SHEIN Points have an expiration period of 90 days.”

That matters for anyone saving up. A balance you build over a season will not survive it, and returning an item claws its points back — if you are short, the policy says your balance goes negative until future earnings cover it.

For the daily check-in, there is one measured result. The Krazy Coupon Lady, a coupon site, had a writer check in daily for three months and finish with $4.94 of credit. That is the realistic ceiling on tapping a button every day.

Worth it? Add the photo and size to reviews you were writing anyway, for 17 points instead of 5. Chasing points as an earner pays under a dollar a month.

The In-App Invite Games

These are the offers that promise real value: pick your own free gifts, grow a money tree, raise a puppy. They are also the only Shein free-stuff route with no published rules at all.

That gap is a choice, not an oversight. Shein publishes numbered official rules pages for its other games, including Check-In, CreditsBox, a wallet-credit program and a string of sweepstakes. The invite games have only a landing page, whose “Rules” control opens an in-app screen rather than a document.

What the invite page does state is narrow: people you invite must download the Shein app “for the first time in your device”, every completed step pays a reward, and gifts ship free. The number of friends needed, the deadline, the gift list and the odds are all unpublished. The Puppy Keep link that ranks on Google’s first page for this search now returns “Activity has ended”.

What Shein's app says when you try to close a reward pop-up: 1. The pop-up answers a tap on the close button; 2. The big lit button is the one that keeps you playing.
Shein’s reward pop-up as BEUC’s researchers recorded it in the Shein app on 7 May 2025, reproduced at page 20 of the screenshot annex to BEUC’s complaint to the European Commission (BEUC-X-2025-052). BEUC filed it as confirm-shaming, noting that the “Pick to get 200€” button is large and red while the “Still leave” option below it, outside this crop, is small and unlit. The figures are euros because the app was the EU one; the US app shows dollars.

The Dutch investigative outlet Follow the Money reported in July 2024 that players needed dozens to hundreds of sign-ups, inside a 10-minute window to add friends, for gifts advertised at up to €3,000. One creator it spoke to spent three hours and received nothing. A leaked Shein design brief told staff not to show the real referral count and to build “a false sense of scarcity”; Shein declined to comment on it.

Two Shein game programs are documented, and both punish a return. CreditsBox pays $5 of wallet credit per $15 of a first order, released over ten daily check-ins, and the “purchase to get credits back” program pays up to $100 over nine days. Return the order before the tasks are done and you forfeit the rest — and if you have spent it, Shein reserves the right to deduct it from your refund.

Worth it? Not as a way to get something free. Play only if you would enjoy it, invite nobody you would not recommend the app to, and expect the last stretch to be the slowest.

A Shein Gift Card From a Rewards App

This is the route that does not depend on Shein picking you. Rewards sites pay for surveys, offers and games in cash or gift cards. It is slower than a free gift and far more predictable.

Swagbucks Summary

  • Many ways to earn money and e-gift cards
  • $10 welcome bonus with a $25 purchase
  • Up to 10% cashback when shopping online
  • Cash out by PayPal or e-gift card
  • Play games and take surveys for $
  • Legit platform run by Prodege

Swagbucks is the largest of them, with many ways to earn and e-gift cards from $3 (300 SB), so you can cash out early and often. Its $10 welcome bonus needs a $25 purchase through its shop pages, which is worth knowing before you count on it. Our Swagbucks review covers what it paid in our own testing.

Freecash leans on game offers and says it has paid out more than $400 million since 2020. Cash out by PayPal or gift card from $5. Its own support pages say the first withdrawal needs an ID check with a selfie, and that the first threshold runs $5 to $20 depending on your region.

Neither is a Shein program, and neither advertises a Shein card on a page we could verify, so treat the payout as money. More options are in our guides to free gift cards and free PayPal money.

Worth it? The most reliable of the four, if you treat it as small change for small tasks rather than free clothes.

What Happened When People Tried It

Four documented attempts, each linked in the paragraphs below. Dates are when the account was published, not when the offer ran.

The pattern across them is consistent. The two offers Shein documents are small, slow and real; the games are where the failures cluster, and the one documented win came with a delivery dispute rather than a happy ending.

The $947 case is the most instructive. In a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau in September 2026, the complainant said a prize they had legitimately won was marked delivered to a neighbouring address, that the carrier acknowledged the error in writing, and that Shein still treated the parcel as delivered.

Counting helps separate noise from pattern. Of 140 published BBB complaints we read, dated 30 August to 30 September 2026, four touched a free offer, points, a game or a coupon, and only one was about a free offer itself. Of Shein’s 50 newest US App Store reviews, read on 13 October 2026, two were about the games or coupons, and both were one-star.

On Trustpilot, searching inside the reviews finds more: 25 reviews mention a gift, 17 of them one-star, including one from March 2026 describing a Puppy Keep run that halted at 99.92%, and one from September 2026 that selected three free gifts and received a single cheap item. A separate search found a reviewer in May 2026 whose $4,200 of referral rewards was blocked when Shein froze the account for “irregular activities”.

Bottom line: complaints about Shein’s giveaways go to the app stores and Trustpilot, while the BBB file is almost entirely about orders and refunds. The giveaways annoy people; they are not what makes people file formal complaints.

Why Shein Gives Clothes Away

Shein was private until 2026, so its spending was guesswork. Its Hong Kong listing prospectus, filed on 24 August 2026, ended that: the company booked $41.8 billion of revenue in 2025 and spent $6.19 billion on marketing, which is 14.8% of revenue, up from 10.8% in 2023.

Shein's marketing spend jumped to $6.19 billion in 2025 (Marketing expenses a year, in US dollars, from Shein's own accounts): 2023 $3.45B; 2024 $4.16B; 2025 $6.19B.
Shein’s own figures, read from its Hong Kong listing prospectus: marketing expenses of US$3,453m in 2023, US$4,159m in 2024 and US$6,191m in 2025, which it reports as 10.8%, 10.7% and 14.8% of net revenues. It reached 15.8% in the first quarter of 2026, a quarter in which Shein recorded a US$99m loss. Shein attributes the rise to “enhanced efforts to drive better customer engagement”.

Shein gives its own reason for the jump: “enhanced efforts to drive better customer engagement”. Engagement is what the games, the check-in streak and the spin wheel are for, and the spending rose faster than sales did.

Marketing takes $5.74 of Shein's average $38.82 order (Per order in 2025, from Shein's own revenue, costs and order count. Scale: one $38.82 order): Shipping and fulfillment $17.69; Marketing $5.74; Net profit Shein keeps $1.91.
Calculated from Shein’s 2025 figures in its Hong Kong listing prospectus: net revenues of US$41,847m over 1,078m fulfilled orders is $38.82 an order; marketing expenses of US$6,191m are $5.74 of it, fulfillment expenses of US$19,072m are $17.69, and net income of US$2,064m is $1.91. First reported by CNBC, 26 July 2026. The rest is cost of sales and overheads.

Spread across the year, that is about $17 million a day, and $5.74 of marketing for every one of the 1,078 million orders Shein filled. A free item, a spin wheel and a coupon bundle are line items in that budget. They exist to bring an order, a new app install or a daily visit, which is why almost every offer attaches to one of those three.

The rewards themselves cost Shein very little by comparison. The same prospectus books the deferred revenue it carries for every unredeemed point and incentive worldwide at $34 million at the end of 2025 — about half of one percent of what it spent getting people to earn them.

The pressure behind it shows in the same filing. Shein’s net profit fell 38.7% in 2025 to $2.06 billion, and fulfillment costs rose to 45.6% of revenue. It also told EU regulators, under the Digital Services Act, that it averaged 127.9 million monthly users there between February and July 2026 — down almost 18% from the 155.7 million it had filed six months earlier.

Bottom line: the giveaways are an acquisition cost at a company whose profit is falling and whose European audience is shrinking. That makes them real, and it makes them designed to be hard to finish.

Is the Free Stuff on Shein Legit?

Shein is a real retailer with audited accounts and a stock-market listing, and the items it awards do ship. The question worth asking is narrower: are the offers described honestly? On that, regulators have had a good deal to say.

On Trustpilot, Shein sits between Wish and Temu (Share of each site's Trustpilot reviews by stars, read 13 October 2026): Wish (4.3 from 194,891 reviews): 5 stars 62%, 4 15%, 3 5%, 2 2%, 1 star 16%; Shein (3.8 from 353,292 reviews): 5 stars 59%, 4 12%, 3 6%, 2 5%, 1 star 18%; Temu (1.8 from 56,483 reviews): 5 stars 24%, 4 7%, 3 5%, 2 6%, 1 star 58%.
Read the same day from shein.com, temu.com and wish.com on Trustpilot, 13 October 2026. Trustpilot reviewers choose themselves, so these are not samples of all shoppers; Shein also pays for a Trustpilot subscription and replies to most negative reviews, which Temu does not.

Shoppers rate Shein very differently depending on where they are asked. On 13 October 2026 it scored 4.8 on Google Play from 12.4 million ratings and 4.73 on the US App Store from 3.88 million, but 3.8 on Trustpilot from 353,292 reviews, where 18% of reviews are one-star and 6% three-star. The Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ while recording 3,379 complaints in twelve months, about nine a day; that grade reflects how Shein responds, not how few complaints arrive.

What regulators have found about Shein's discounts and reward screens: May 2025: EU consumer authorities list six practices. Fake reductions, countdown timers and pressure selling breach EU law, the CPC Network said; Jun 2025: BEUC files over the reward games. 25 consumer groups in 21 countries: spin wheels, exit pop-ups, games; Jul 2025: €40m French fine over fake discounts. 57% of the discounts checked had no reduction; Shein settled; Aug 2025: €1m Italian greenwashing fine. The AGCM found Shein's recyclability claims false or confusing; Oct 2025: France refers Shein to prosecutors. Over third-party marketplace listings, not the reward offers; Nov 2025: A bid to suspend shein.com fails. A Paris court refused the government’s three-month suspension; Feb 2026: EU opens a formal DSA case. Addictive design and recommender transparency; no finding or penalty yet; Jun 2026: €22.5m more in French fines. Over garment origin, microplastics and a denied 14-day withdrawal right.
Sources: the European Commission on the CPC Network’s findings (May 2025) and its DSA proceedings (17 February 2026); BEUC (June 2025); the DGCCRF’s €40m fine (3 July 2025) and its further fines (reported 3 June 2026); AGCM (August 2025); and the Paris court’s refusal to suspend the site (November 2025). The DSA case is open, with no finding either way.

The regulatory record bears directly on free offers, because it is mostly about how Shein presents a bargain. In July 2025 France’s consumer authority, the DGCCRF, fined Shein’s operator €40 million over deceptive discounts after examining listings from October 2022 to August 2023: it found 57% of the price-reduction claims it checked carried no reduction at all, 19% a smaller one than advertised and 11% were price rises. Shein settled.

Two points of accuracy matter. France’s government did ask a Paris court to suspend shein.com in November 2025, over marketplace listings rather than the reward offers, and the court refused — Shein was not banned. And the European Commission’s Digital Services Act case, opened in February 2026 into addictive design, is open: it alleges, and has found nothing.

Bottom line: the free stuff is real and so is the record. Nothing suggests Shein fails to ship what it awards; plenty suggests you should read an offer’s own screen rather than its headline.

What Shein Publishes, and What Only Blogs Do

Several of the most repeated figures about Shein freebies are not Shein’s at all.

Each row checked against Shein’s US rule pages on 13 October 2026, linked in the sections above.

The rule holds for any offer inside the app: if a number is not on a rule page, somebody described their own account on one day. Our guide to free stuff on Temu found the same on a rival app.

3 Ways to Pay Less on Shein Without Inviting Anyone

None of these is free stuff. All three are more dependable than a game.

Cash back on orders you were placing

Rakuten pays cash back at more than 3,500 stores. Its rates change week to week, so check Shein’s rate on the day rather than trusting a figure in an article. Its welcome bonus needs a qualifying purchase of $25 within 90 days of joining, and cash back is paid quarterly once your balance reaches $5.

The free-shipping line and the free return

Shein’s shipping page puts free US standard shipping at orders over $29, dropping to $15 on Sundays and Thursdays and on a first order. The first return from any order is free; a second return from the same order costs $6.99, and the window is 30 days from delivery.

The affiliate program is not a gift box

Searches for Shein freebies often surface the idea of a PR gift box. Shein’s affiliate program is a commission arrangement, not a giveaway: it pays 10% to 20% of a referred sale depending on the category and whether the buyer is new, holds commission as pending for up to 45 days, and expects applicants to have a US audience and brand-safe content. If you want free products to review, our list of product testing apps and our Influenster review cover programs built for that.

Shein Freebie Scams to Avoid

“Free Shein” is a popular disguise for fraud, because the real offers make an unbelievable one sound plausible.

Losses to scams that started on social media keep climbing (Reported to the FTC, billions of dollars a year): 2021 $0.8B; 2022 $1.2B; 2023 $1.5B; 2024 $1.9B; 2025 $2.1B.
Source: the FTC’s Consumer Sentinel Network data books for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, each year as first published, and the FTC’s April 2026 release for 2025. Nothing here is Shein’s own: it is the backdrop for fake “Shein free gift” ads, which are not Shein’s offers.

The FTC reported $2.1 billion lost in 2025 to scams that began on social media, eight times the 2020 figure, and said more than 40% of people who lost money that way first saw something they wanted to order in an ad. None of that is Shein’s own doing; it is the environment in which fake Shein giveaways are posted.

  • No fee unlocks a free gift. A real Shein offer never asks for a payment, a card number or a gift-card code to release a prize.
  • Open the app, not the link. Shein’s offers appear in its own app and on shein.com, so type the address instead of following a message.
  • A “$200 Shein credit” survey is not Shein’s. Shein publishes no such US offer; those pages harvest details.
  • An unordered parcel is not a win. Unexpected Shein packages reported to the BBB’s Scam Tracker are brushing scams, where a seller ships goods to a stranger to post a fake review.

Our Verdict

Shein’s free offers are genuine and mostly tiny. The Free Trial Center is the only one that reliably sends a real item, and it is a lottery weighted toward people who already spend. The games, which promise the most, are the ones Shein refuses to write rules for.

Worth doing

  • Three Free Trial applications a week, since they cost nothing
  • Adding a photo and your size to reviews you were writing
  • The $29 free-shipping line and the free first return
  • Cash back, checked on the day you order
  • A gift card bought with rewards-app earnings

Skip

  • Invite games that need people new to the app
  • Paying anything to “unlock” a gift you have won
  • Any site promising a Shein code for free clothes
  • Counting on points as income, at about 1% back

For freebies with no purchase attached, our directory of websites to get free stuff lists hundreds of real offers.

How We Researched This

We read Shein’s own rule pages for the Free Trial, points, check-in and its documented games, plus its terms, shipping and return policies and its 2026 Hong Kong listing prospectus, then checked each widely repeated figure against them. For other people’s experience we read and counted 140 published BBB complaints from 30 August to 30 September 2026, Shein’s 50 newest US App Store reviews, and Trustpilot reviews found by searching inside them.

We also used published reporting and one coupon site’s own staff test. What happens inside the Shein app is credited to the people and regulators who recorded it, because nobody here has an account.

Shein Freebies FAQ

Is the SHEIN Free Trial legit?

Yes. Shein publishes rules for it, covers the shipping, and lets you keep the item. Selection is random and weighted by your account history, so there is no way to guarantee one, and you are expected to post a photo review within 10 days.

Does the $200 Shein credit work?

Shein publishes no $200 US credit offer. Pages advertising one in exchange for a survey or a sign-up are not Shein’s and exist to collect your details. Shein’s documented credit programs pay in small tranches tied to a first order.

How much is 100 Shein points worth, and what about 500?

Shein states a rate of $1 per 100 points on its non-US points page, which makes 500 points about $5. Its US policy does not print a rate and caps points at half an order’s product total, excluding shipping and tax.

Do Shein points expire?

Yes, after 90 days. Shein’s US policy says only that each set of points has an expiration date, but its 2026 listing prospectus states the period outright, so a balance saved over a season will not last it.

Is there a Shein code for free clothes?

No. No code on any Shein rule page gives free clothing. Sites and videos offering one are usually sharing a referral link, which pays them rather than you, or collecting sign-ups.

Can you get free stuff on Shein without inviting friends?

Yes. The Free Trial Center, points from reviews and the daily check-in all work on your own. Only the invite games require other people, and those are the offers Shein publishes no rules for.
