Julia Garner Joins ‘The Unbelievable 4’ as Shalla-Bal Incarnation of Silver Surfer
Julia Garner just made The Fantastic Four cast exponentially more fantastic. Marvel has reportedly cast the Ozark actress as the Shalla-Bal incarnation of Silver Surfer in its 2025 reboot starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the titular superheroes with extraordinary powers.
According to Deadline, three-time Emmy winner Julia Garner will portray Shalla-Bal, one version of Silver Surfer from the comic books. Julia Garner is best known for playing Ruth on Ozark and Anna Delvey on the limited series Inventing Anna.
TheMarvel cinematic multiverse has seen several incarnations of the Fantastic Four on-screen. 2005’sFantastic Four and 2007’sFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surferstars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis as the superheroes. A poorly received 2015 reboot starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell failed on every level. In 2022, John Krasinski played a version of Reed Richards who was quickly killed off in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Here’s hoping the cast of the newThe Fantastic Four leaves the multiverse in the rearview mirror and sticks around in this universe for a hot minute or two, especially with Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn on board.
