Five Things to Avoid in Social Network Marketing

Five Things to Avoid in Social Network Marketing

Social networking is an advertising method that uses social networks to build ones business presence on the internet. It has been proven to be a very viable way for a person to grow their online business. A lot of businesses in fact rely primarily on social networking as a way to grow their online business. It is common to visit one of these social networks and see a primary focus on business promotion.

When social networking was first developed, the original intent was to allow people a place to gather to share ideas, interests, and meet new people among others. When you consider this there are certain behaviors that should be followed when you are using social networking as a way to advertise your business. There are five very basic principles that you should avoid when you are advertising your business through social networking.

1. Discussions
The main idea of a social network is to socialize with other members. So if you do not join in the conversations and mingle your business will remain unknown as well as it is considered rude. You will want to mingle and join in conversations with other members to build your online presence. This is also a great way for you to get to know other members while they get to know you. The more the people know you the more that they will trust you as a business person. The outcome of not joining in any discussions is that you will be labeled as just another business owner trying to scam a product and as a result you will be ignored by many.

2. Automated
Some social networks allow you to program some of your posts in advance. Yes this is a great idea but to a certain extent. This is great for someone who would like to interact at certain times but are not available at those times. The problem is though that too many business owners rely on automation and do not even try to interact with other members of the social network. All these business owners are continually send sales pitches to promote their product which is wrong and will just lead you to once again getting ignored by other members of the network. Remember you are there to interact as well as promote your business. You need to be available to do both and not send automated responses.

3. Selling
Remember a social network is meant to meet new people and get to know them and over time building a relationship with the member. If you are continually trying to sell the person a new product you will lose out the chance of earning their trust and loyalty. When you do not earn these two things, you will be out a potential client of your business. If you are continually trying to promote a new product, no one on the social network will want to associate with you which will result in a loss of potential customers.

4. Behavior
Just like any other social site you need to be respectful and honest to other members. Polite discussions about disagreements are all right but if you are rude, harsh or just plain too disrespectful to other members this is just rude and can get you banned. You must remember as a business owner that the more respectable you are to other members the more they learn to trust you and eventually may even want to purchase your product.

5. Profiles
Every social network that you join allows you to create a profile so that others can get to know you better. It is hard for other members to become a friend of yours if they do not even know anything about you. When you do create your profile, do not in any way add false information. This will only cause other members to question your truthfulness as a business owner which is something that can have grave repercussions.

Social networking can be a very powerful way for anyone to promote their business if done in the correct way. When you avoid these five little slow deaths of any business owner, you will be well on your way to a high traffic volume to your site later.
