38. Craigslist

Craigslist is a great site for making money. And it is still one of the best sites to find quick cash paying gigs near you.

And for those of us looking for more, it’s also a great platform to find under the table jobs that pay cash!

Years ago, I found some freelance writing work on the platform. What I like about Craigslist is that it’s totally free to use, and the site doesn’t charge you any commission rates, or anything like that, on your freelance services.

I would definitely recommend checking on Craigslist for gigs.

You can do this by going to the “Jobs” section of your city’s Craigslist. There, you’ll be able to browse job openings and gigs. You can find everything from customer support work to graphic design gigs on there. Handily enough, jobs are separated by category, such as general labor, and writing/editing.

Now, with Craigslist, it’s important to be aware of scams. Never pay to apply for a job or to do a job. And, don’t provide any personal information like your credit card details. Just use your common sense.

Also, rather than just applying for jobs, you could advertise your services as a freelancer on the platform and find paid gig work that way.

What does it pay?

Each job will have its own pay rate, so earnings will vary depending on the particular gig you do. Just ask about the pay rate for the particular job that you apply for. Many of the jobs provide earnings right on the listing.

If you are advertising your services on Craigslist, then you can set your own rates. Just look at what other people are charging for a similar service.

39. UpWork

I would recommend UpWork if you are looking for freelance work because of how many jobs are available on there. New jobs are posted every day with everything from graphic design work to data entry jobs available on the platform.

The only issue that I have with UpWork is that it doesn’t favor new freelancers. What I mean by this is that UpWork charges high commission for new contracts. If you have just started up a contract with a client, you will pay 20% commission on your earnings.

Once you have earned over $10,000 with a client, the commission drops to 5%.

However, if you’re working with multiple clients this won’t favor you. Overall, it is a good site for finding consistent freelance work that’s ideal if you’re looking to work with just a handful of the same clients.
