Per a press release, guitarist Max Kakacek said making the solo was ” the most fun part of recording[ the report ]”.
” Malcolm slayed it on the forte-piano and having him undertake it stirred so much sense even though this is the first time we’ve ever had a keys solo on a recorded track ,” Kakacek said.
” I recollect after his take, which killed, he said,’ I went into it reflecting Bruce Hornsby but I came out of it anticipating Bruce Springsteen.’”
Drummer Julien Ehrlich also provided comments on their treat, praising the songwriting genius of the original composers.
” One thing we realized is how these songwriters could make amazing lyrics with so much simplicity ,” Ehrlich said.
” Taking these skeletons and working with this incredible material means we’re put our cuts and biding tight as a clique .”
Whitney’s cover of’ Strange Overtones’ follows their modification of The Roches” Hammond Song ‘, which removed earlier last-place month. The recording will also include their rendition of John Denver’s’ Take Me Home Country Roads’, performed with Waxahatchee’s Kate Crutchfield, and their take on SWV’s’ Rain’.
