This launch follows earlier collections Looking Back (2011) and Keep Lookin\u2019 (2014), which ran the gamut of musical types which emanated from the UK, numerous and but united of their dancefloor attraction, from the discotheques of the day to nouveau Mod golf equipment within the twenty first century. Many tracks make their official debut on CD, together with rarities by The Gnomes Of Zurich, Kevin \u2018King\u2019 Lear, Dominic Grant, The Shadrocks, The Reaction, Al Saxon, The Hammers, and so forth. In addition, \u2018Cypress\u2019 by The Truth is a beforehand unissued variant of Donovan\u2019s \u2018Hey Gyp\u2019. Familiar names (The Spencer Davis Group, Laurel Aitken, The Moody Blues, Arthur Brown) are joined by cult favourites (John\u2019s Children, Mickey Finn, The Bo Street Runners) and relative unknowns (Five\u2019s Company, The Second Thoughts). Across the three CDs, Night Comes Down charts the event of beat music in it\u2019s numerous guises, from the gutsy but jazzy J&B which opens Disc B by way of to horn-laden Brit Soul (Norma Lee, The Brothers Grimm), fuzz-laden Freakbeat (Favourite Sons, The Tomcats, The In Crowd), Femme Pop (Twiggy, Twinkle), and groovy Loungecore (courtesy of Mark Wirtz and Les Reed\u2019s British Lion Orchestra). Disc Three displays the affect of Psychedelia, as Swinging London turned multi-coloured, with assorted treats from The Alan Bown, The Mike Stuart Span and The Spectrum, with some unlikely Mod-ish discoveries by \u201cbushy\u201d bands resembling The Deviants and Fat Mattress.<\/p>\n
