The singer appeared at Southwark Crown Court on October 26th for the conclusion of the criminal case.<\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old received an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/media-telecom\/us-singer-chris-brown-arrives-uk-court-sentencing-over-nightclub-incident-2026-10-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>. The term could be activated if he commits another offense during that period.<\/p>\n<p>His vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, 40, received a four-month prison sentence suspended for the same period. Both men were ordered to pay \u00a31,500 in costs, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/news\/2026-10-26\/chris-brown-avoids-jail-after-admitting-nightclub-affray-charge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITV News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The case concerned an attack on producer Abraham Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair during the early hours of February 19th, 2023. Surveillance footage from inside the crowded venue became central evidence against the two men.<\/p>\n<h2>CCTV Showed Brown Striking Diaw Twice in the Head<\/h2>\n<p>The court was shown footage of Brown approaching Diaw through the crowd before hitting him twice in the head with the bottle. Prosecutor Heidi Stonecliffe KC said Brown played the leading role in the violence.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cps.gov.uk\/national-news-london-south\/news\/singer-chris-brown-convicted-using-unlawful-violence-following\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crown Prosecution Service<\/a>, Akinlolu joined the attack and punched Diaw in the head. The assault continued as Diaw tried to escape through the club, and he was kicked while on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Diaw subsequently attended St Mary\u2019s Hospital with head and knee injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Tony Baumgartner described Brown\u2019s repeated use of the glass bottle as \u201cplainly dangerous.\u201d He said directing blows at someone\u2019s head created a risk of substantially worse injuries than those Diaw sustained.<\/p>\n<h2>The Guilty Pleas Replaced More Serious Charges<\/h2>\n<h2><!-- Editorial check: Original supplied video retained. The change of plea came before their scheduled October trial.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors dropped the other charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and Brown\u2019s charge of possessing an offensive weapon, the bottle.<\/p>\n<p>Affray concerns using or threatening unlawful violence in circumstances that would cause a person of reasonable firmness at the scene to fear for their safety. The offense carried a maximum sentence of three years in prison.<\/p>\n<h2>His Lawyer Apologized as the Judge Weighed Mitigation<\/h2>\n<p>Defense lawyer Sallie Bennett-Jenkins KC told the court that Brown offered a \u201cprofound apology\u201d to those present at the nightclub. She acknowledged that the incident was ugly and distressing, while emphasizing that it lasted no more than about 20 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The judge considered Brown\u2019s guilty plea, stable employment and charitable work when deciding to suspend the sentence, the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/britain-chris-brown-sentencing-london-nightclub-9ad70cfba51e4ed7311e6a91acf9991d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Baumgartner also acknowledged Brown\u2019s previous convictions but said he had maintained a clean record in recent years. He did not treat the singer as someone who had persistently offended throughout the intervening period.<\/p>\n<p>The judge nevertheless distinguished those mitigating circumstances from celebrity status, telling Brown that his fame, commercial success and professional standing did not entitle him to special treatment.<\/p>\n<h2>His Arrest Had Put the Breezy Bowl XX Tour in Doubt<\/h2>\n<p>The investigation continued after Brown and Akinlolu left Britain. The <a href=\"https:\/\/news.met.police.uk\/news\/two-men-sentenced-for-affray-in-mayfair-nightclub-514311\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Metropolitan Police<\/a> said officers repeatedly invited them to attend voluntary interviews, but they did not do so and were subsequently circulated as wanted.<\/p>\n<p>After learning that Brown was returning to the country, investigators worked with Greater Manchester Police to arrest him on May 15th, 2025. Akinlolu was arrested in Manchester that day as well.<\/p>\n<p>Brown was initially denied bail, raising questions about whether his planned Breezy Bowl XX tour could proceed.
