She asked the magazine to withhold her last name.<\/p>\n<p>Her account follows the October 13 release of Collin\u2019s memoir, <em>In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood<\/em>, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hachettebookgroup.com\/titles\/collin-gosselin\/in-the-shadow-of-eight\/9781538784723\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grand Central Publishing<\/a>. The 22-year-old describes alleged physical and emotional abuse during his childhood.<\/p>\n<p>Kate has denied Collin\u2019s abuse allegations. She also alleged that Kate pulled him by the ear and yanked him from his kitchen chair, treating him more harshly than his siblings.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley had admired Kate while watching <em>Kate Plus 8<\/em>. Having struggled with infertility herself, she said Kate\u2019s large family had given her hope that she could become a mother.<\/p>\n<p>While studying for a master\u2019s degree in social work in 2013, Ashley answered an online advertisement for a nanny. Cleaning instructions included using a toothpick around the refrigerator\u2019s edges.<\/p>\n<p>She said toys could not be left out and alleged that the children were allowed only one or two school outfits each week to reduce laundry.<\/p>\n<p>While looking in a drawer containing school supplies, Ashley recalled finding a large red plastic spoon. When she asked why it was there, a child allegedly replied, \u201cOh, that\u2019s the spoon mommy uses when she gets mad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ashley did not describe witnessing the spoon being used to hit anyone. The agency declined to comment to PEOPLE, citing confidentiality laws.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Collin separately discussed his experience with child services during the October 12 episode of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jayshetty.me\/podcast\/collin-gosselin-the-real-story-behind-one-of-americas-most-watched-families\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jay Shetty\u2019s<\/a> <em>On Purpose<\/em> podcast. He said a report documented allegations that he had been restrained and confined, along with bruising, but ultimately classified the allegations as \u201cunfounded,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/former-housekeeper-for-kate-gosselin-corroborates-collin-abuse-allegations-12190524\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley, now a social worker and mother of twins, said she came forward to support Collin and encourage others with experience working in the household to speak.<\/p>\n<h2>Kate Has Defended Her Parenting Decisions<\/h2>\n<p>Kate placed Collin in a residential treatment program in 2016. He later moved in with his father, Jon Gosselin, who obtained custody in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2024, attorney Richard Puleo told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/tv\/12350645\/collin-gosselin-kate-zip-tied-arms-legs-locked-basement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The U.S. Sun<\/a> that he did not believe Kate had intentionally harmed Collin.
