RJ Mitte, who starred in “Breaking Bad<\/a>,” has died, according to a statement from his representative. He was 34.<\/p>\n “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” the statement said.<\/p>\n The actor, who lived with cerebral palsy, rose to fame on AMC’s award-winning series as Walter White Jr., the son of the show’s titular character, Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston.<\/p>\n Mitte drew from his own experience living with the neurological disorder and used his platform to raise awareness about it.<\/p>\n RJ Mitte attends a screening of “Talking To Strangers” at Fine Arts Theatre, Sept. 30, 2026, in Beverly Hills.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Unique Nicole\/Getty Images<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The actor starred in “Breaking Bad” for all five seasons of the show.<\/p>\n Cranston shared a statement on social media on Monday, saying, “I\u2019m in deep despair as I write this tonight. RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad has died.”<\/p>\n “Born with Cerebral Palsy, he never – ever – allowed that challenge to be an excuse for anything. He met the demanding shooting schedule head on with great determination,” Cranston wrote.<\/p>\n Cranston said Mitte died by suicide. “It is especially devastating to hear that he took his own life,” he wrote.<\/p>\n “We were texting each other just a few weeks ago – figuring out when we could meet for lunch. I don\u2019t know if that lunch would have changed his future\u2026 But I do know that I loved him, and thoroughly enjoyed being with him throughout the years on the series, and after the spotlight on Breaking Bad dimmed,” Cranston wrote.<\/p>\n “I\u2019ll miss you, son,” he added.<\/p>\n Earlier this month, Mitte appeared on the “Joe Vulpis Podcast” and reflected on what it was like auditioning for “Breaking Bad,” saying that it was “one of the longest auditions of my life.”<\/p>\n “I was one of the very last main cast to be in the series,” he said. “I already missed the cast dinner.”<\/p>\n Mitte also starred in “Switched at Birth,” “The Guardians of Justice,” “The Oak Room” and more.<\/p>\n Outside of acting, Mitte was an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.
