Shipping drops to $1 once your cart reaches $35.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For bulk supplies:<\/strong> DollarDays, built for schools and nonprofits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Same-day delivery only:<\/strong> Dollar General and Family Dollar don\u2019t ship online orders, but they deliver from local stores. Hollar and 99 Cents Only are closed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Golden rule:<\/strong> Pick free store pickup whenever you can. It can save you from paying a shipping charge on a small order.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But online dollar stores don\u2019t work like the store down the street. Some sell only by the case, some charge a flat shipping fee that\u2019s bigger than a small order, and two of the biggest names don\u2019t ship at all anymore.<\/p>\n<p>That doesn\u2019t make them a bad deal. Dollar General and Family Dollar aren\u2019t in it either, because they don\u2019t ship to your home. Dollar King got the one-item test below instead.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s how I ran the cart price test:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Closest plain match:<\/strong> I picked the cheapest plain version of each item, not a certain brand.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Smallest case:<\/strong> At Dollar Tree and DollarDays, I picked the smallest case the site would let me buy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Different amounts:<\/strong> Each store\u2019s case sizes and shipping limits changed how much of each item ended up in the cart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now, this test doesn\u2019t mean Dollar Tree is expensive. It means Dollar Tree\u2019s website is built for big orders, not for one family\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypantry.com\/save-money-back-to-school-shopping\/\">back-to-school shopping list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you really do need a lot, bigger cases get cheaper per piece:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Crayons:<\/strong> A case of 48 boxes of 24-count Crayola crayons costs $60.00. That\u2019s 1,152 crayons.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pencils:<\/strong> A 48-pack case of Jot 24-count pencils works out to about 5 cents a pencil. No PO boxes or military addresses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dollar Tree is one of the best-known dollar stores, and its base price is $1.25. Online, though, it works more like a wholesale supplier than a store.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Classrooms, parties, churches and events that need a lot of the same item<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prices:<\/strong> $1.25 base price, with some items at $3, $5 and other prices<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimum order:<\/strong> One case of each item. Cases held 3 to 75 items in my searches, and most held 12 to 24<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> Based on weight and number of boxes. $65.96 on my test cart<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free option:<\/strong> Ship to your local Dollar Tree store<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> All online sales are final<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Does Dollar Tree sell single items online?<\/h4>\n<p>No. Dollar Tree sells online by the case. On September 24, 2026, I checked about 580 items on DollarTree.com, from candy and party supplies to cleaning, storage and toys. Every one showed \u201cMinimum You Can Buy,\u201d and the smallest amount was always one case.<\/p>\n<p>The product pages explain why: \u201cMany items are shipped in cases that cannot be divided up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some cases are small, though. A few toys came in cases of 3 or 4, and plenty of home items came in cases of 6. The crayon page sits under \u201cEducation &amp; Nonprofits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you need something in bulk that isn\u2019t on the website, Dollar Tree lets you order it by phone with the item\u2019s UPC or SKU.<\/p>\n<h4>How much does Dollar Tree charge to ship to your home?<\/h4>\n<p>Dollar Tree doesn\u2019t post a set shipping price. You can send your order to any Dollar Tree in the country at no charge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Before you count on it, know these limits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Not every store or item:<\/strong> Dollar Tree says ship-to-store isn\u2019t available at every store or for every product.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Out-of-stock items ship home:<\/strong> If the warehouse that serves your store is out of an item, that item has to ship to your house instead.<\/li>\n<li><strong>It takes a while:<\/strong> Dollar Tree\u2019s own shipping page says store orders take 4 to 6 business days in one spot and 7 to 10 in another. My cart\u2019s pickup date was 13 days out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So if you need party supplies this weekend, it won\u2019t work. For a school year or an event a month away, it\u2019s the cheapest way I found to get Dollar Tree prices in bulk.<\/p>\n<h4>Dollar Tree same-day delivery through Instacart<\/h4>\n<p>If you need something today, Dollar Tree also delivers same-day through Instacart from <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.dollartree.com\/about\">more than 8,400 stores<\/a>. Just know that Dollar Tree\u2019s same-day terms say those prices can be different from what\u2019s on the shelf.<\/p>\n<h4>Can you return a Dollar Tree online order?<\/h4>\n<p>No. Dollar Tree says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dollartree.com\/online-faq-return-policy\">all sales are final<\/a> for orders placed on DollarTree.com. Checkout also warns that you can\u2019t cancel or change an order once it\u2019s placed.<\/p>\n<p>If an order arrives damaged or missing something, Dollar Tree asks you to call 1-877-530-8733.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"2-five-below\">2. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fivebelow.com\/\">Five Below<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ships to:<\/strong> The 48 connected states. No military addresses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Five Below is a discount store where most things cost $1 to $5, plus a \u201cFive Beyond\u201d section for items over $5. It\u2019s one of the easiest big-name stores for buying just one or two things online.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Small orders you can pick up in store<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prices:<\/strong> Most items $1 to $5<\/li>\n<li><strong>What it sells:<\/strong> Style, room decor, sports, tech, crafts, party supplies and candy<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimum order:<\/strong> None, but every item has a per-customer limit<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> $7.95 flat on both of my test carts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free option:<\/strong> In-store pickup, often ready the same day<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> 90 days, in store or by mail, but shipping isn\u2019t refunded<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How much is Five Below shipping?<\/h4>\n<p>Five Below\u2019s help center doesn\u2019t list a shipping price. It just tells you to check at checkout.<\/p>\n<p>Shipping was $7.95 on both of my test carts. On the $12 cart of school supplies, that\u2019s 66% of the item cost.<\/p>\n<p>Standard shipping takes 5 to 7 business days, and sometimes up to 10.<\/p>\n<h4>Some Five Below items can\u2019t be shipped at all<\/h4>\n<p><strong>When I searched the eight school supplies, I ran into three problems:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pickup only:<\/strong> The pencils, glue sticks and notebook said \u201cShipping: Currently Unavailable.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>No plain versions:<\/strong> I couldn\u2019t find plain yellow #2 pencils or a plain pack of blue pens. Five Below had character pencils and 8-packs of Paper Mate InkJoy pens instead.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purchase limits:<\/strong> The folder I picked was limited to one per customer per order, and the glue sticks were limited to three.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Five Below pickup and same-day delivery<\/h4>\n<p>Free in-store pickup is the smart way to shop Five Below online. Five Below says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fivebelow.com\/info\/buy-online-pick-up-in-store\">most pickup orders are ready the same day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t get to the store, Five Below also delivers through Instacart in as little as 2 hours and DoorDash in as little as 30 minutes. Neither one lists its delivery fees on Five Below\u2019s site.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"3-dollardays\">3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dollardays.com\/\">DollarDays<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ships to:<\/strong> DollarDays\u2019 shipping policy says the 48 connected states and DC, with faster shipping only to Alaska and Hawaii. No PO boxes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>DollarDays is a bulk supplier aimed at schools, nonprofits and charities. You don\u2019t need a membership, just a free account, but almost everything is sold by the case.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Schools, churches, shelters, big events and anyone who needs cheap household items online in bulk<\/li>\n<li><strong>What it sells:<\/strong> 15 categories, including personal care, school and office, food, home and disaster relief, plus a \u201cBulk Hygiene Under $1\u201d section<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimum order:<\/strong> None, but most items come by the case<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> Based on size and weight. $151.37 on my test cart<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free shipping:<\/strong> On eligible items over $599<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> 14 days, unopened cases only, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dollardays.com\/aboutus\/policies.aspx\">20% restocking fee<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>What DollarDays shipping really costs<\/h4>\n<p>My eight cases of school supplies came to $507.24, and shipping added $151.37. That\u2019s about 30% on top.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A few things about DollarDays checkout can surprise you:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Shipping shows up late:<\/strong> The cart says \u201cTBD\u201d for shipping and tax until you reach the shipping step.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freight trucks for big orders:<\/strong> DollarDays ships by UPS, FedEx or \u201cother LTL carriers,\u201d which are freight trucks. That\u2019s why checkout asks whether you\u2019re shipping to a business with a loading dock.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free shipping has gaps:<\/strong> The notebook case in my cart was marked \u201cNot eligible for free shipping.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fast to ship out:<\/strong> DollarDays says most orders ship in 1 to 2 business days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>DollarDays \u201cas low as\u201d prices are for huge orders<\/h4>\n<p>Search results show \u201cas low as\u201d prices, but you only get those at big amounts. The notebook\u2019s $0.86 price needed 2,816 cases or more, and at one case it was $1.00.<\/p>\n<p>Also, two of the cheaper cases I wanted were sold out, and the site gave no warning. Clicking \u201cAdd to Cart\u201d just did nothing.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"4-shop-miss-a\">4. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopmissa.com\/\">Shop Miss A<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ships to:<\/strong> The 48 connected states for the $1 shipping rate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shop Miss A is an online beauty store, and its own brands AOA Studio and a2o Lab make up a lot of what it sells.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s known as the $1 makeup store, but not everything is $1 anymore. When I checked the store\u2019s full product list on September 23, 903 of its 3,257 products were $1.00. Most of the rest were $1.33 to $1.88.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Beauty hauls of $35 or more<\/li>\n<li><strong>What it sells:<\/strong> Makeup, skin care, hair, nails, jewelry, accessories and self care<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prices:<\/strong> Many items $1.00, most others $1.33 to $1.88<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimum order:<\/strong> None<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> $3.95 under $35 at my checkout (the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopmissa.com\/pages\/shipping-handling\">shipping page<\/a> says $4.95), and $1.00 at $35 and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delivery time:<\/strong> 2 to 3 days to pack, then 7 to 10 business days<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> 5 business days, store credit only, and cosmetics are final sale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Shop Miss A shipping drops to $1 at $35<\/h4>\n<p>The $1 makeup sponge from my one-item test cost almost four times its price just to ship. So I put 35 of the same sponge in the cart. It\u2019s a smaller online dollar store based in Vernon, California, with 24 or more departments, including crafts, beauty, cleaning, party supplies, snacks and stationery.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Mixed orders from lots of departments<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prices:<\/strong> $1.99 for the items I saw<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimum order:<\/strong> None<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> $9.99 flat at checkout<\/li>\n<li><strong>Discount:<\/strong> 10% off your first order when you sign up with your email<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> 30 days, but its two policy pages disagree on fees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Dollar King shipping was $9.99 flat at checkout<\/h4>\n<p>The glue sticks from my one-item test cost $9.99 to ship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The shipping stayed at $9.99 as I added more:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>30 packs:<\/strong> $72.64 total<\/li>\n<li><strong>100 packs:<\/strong> $217.83 total, or about 10 cents of shipping per pack<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I didn\u2019t find a free-shipping line on carts up to $199. So the more you buy, the less the shipping matters.<\/p>\n<p>There are two more things to know before you order. You only see the shipping price after you fill in your full name, address and phone number. And Dollar King\u2019s terms say the checkout shipping price is only an estimate, with the real cost sent by email.<\/p>\n<h4>Dollar King\u2019s return rules don\u2019t match<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Dollar King\u2019s two pages give different return rules:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dollar-king.net\/page\/return-policy\">Return policy page<\/a>:<\/strong> 30 days for unused items, and you pay the return shipping. No fee is mentioned.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dollar-king.net\/page\/terms-conditions\">Terms page<\/a>:<\/strong> 30 days too, but with a 15% restocking fee and a return number you have to get first.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you think you might return something, email Dollar King before you order and ask which rule applies.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"6-everything-1-store\">6. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everything1store.com\/\">Everything $1 Store<\/a><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ships to:<\/strong> The US and Canada. Alaska, Hawaii and US territories cost more, based on the carrier and the weight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you want a store where every item really is $1, the Everything $1 Store is the only one I found. It\u2019s brand new. Its products went up in late September 2026, and it\u2019s run by Dollar Fanatic LLC, the company behind the Dollar Fanatic mystery boxes.<\/p>\n<p>When I checked on September 24, 2026, it had 92 products, all $1.00. The site says it carries \u201cat least 100 products at a time,\u201d so expect the list to change often.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> A $50 order of household, beauty and craft basics<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prices:<\/strong> $1.00 for every item<\/li>\n<li><strong>What it sells:<\/strong> A changing mix of beauty items, school and craft supplies, household goods and small hardware<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimum order:<\/strong> $10<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/everything1store.com\/policies\/shipping-policy\">$9.95 flat for up to 49 items<\/a>, and free at $50 and up<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> 7 days after delivery, for new and unopened items only. Clearance items can\u2019t be returned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So the smallest order you can place is $10 of items plus $9.95 shipping, or $19.95 before tax. I\u2019d wait until my list reached $50, because that\u2019s where shipping drops to zero. The site calls free shipping a \u201cpromotion,\u201d so check your cart before you pay.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"dollar-general-and-family-dollar-same-day-delivery-only\">Dollar General and Family Dollar: Same-Day Delivery Only<\/h2>\n<p>Dollar General and Family Dollar are two of the biggest dollar store chains, but neither one ships online orders to your home right now. What you can get is same-day delivery from a store near you.<\/p>\n<p>For food and everyday basics, that\u2019s often better than shipping anyway, because you get your order the same day.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"7-dollar-general-delivery\">7. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dollargeneral.com\/\">Dollar General<\/a> delivery<\/h3>\n<p>Dollar General\u2019s help center says <a href=\"https:\/\/dollargeneral.service-now.com\/csp?id=kb_article_view&amp;sys_kb_id=76ce583497d60b5404b63ea11153afd0\">\u201cShipping is no longer available for online orders.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Its terms page still says it ships to all 50 states, and its website still shows a Shipping option. But when I switched to shipping on September 24, 2026, my searches for glue sticks, shampoo and paper towels came up empty.<\/p>\n<p>DG Pickup is gone too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Groceries and household basics you need today<\/li>\n<li><strong>How to order:<\/strong> myDG Delivery on Dollar General\u2019s website or app, DoorDash or Uber Eats<\/li>\n<li><strong>myDG Delivery cost:<\/strong> Delivery is free, and getting it in under an hour costs a $1 ASAP fee<\/li>\n<li><strong>Who can get it:<\/strong> People who live within 5 miles of a Dollar General store<\/li>\n<li><strong>SNAP:<\/strong> Works on DoorDash, but not on myDG Delivery<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coupons:<\/strong> Digital coupons work on myDG Delivery orders, but paper coupons and DG Cash don\u2019t<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> Online orders can\u2019t be returned at Dollar General stores<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instacart is coming too. Dollar General <a href=\"https:\/\/newscenter.dollargeneral.com\/news\/instacart-and-dollar-general-partner-to-deliver-everyday-essentials\/00dfb8e7-e944-4ca7-968e-7bce06b5842e\">announced an Instacart partnership<\/a> on September 23, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>It starts in about 7,000 stores in six states in the coming weeks, and Dollar General plans to grow it to about 20,000 stores this fall.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"8-family-dollar-delivery\">8. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familydollar.com\/\">Family Dollar<\/a> delivery<\/h3>\n<p>Family Dollar works the same way. <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.dollartree.com\/news-media\/press-releases\/detail\/288\/dollar-tree-completes-sale-of-family-dollar-business-to\">Dollar Tree sold Family Dollar<\/a> in July 2025, and its website now shows products as \u201cShop in-store\u201d with no cart.<\/p>\n<p>If you pay with SNAP, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fna.usda.gov\/snap\/online\">USDA says online SNAP<\/a> works in all 50 states and DC. DoorDash also takes it at <a href=\"https:\/\/about.doordash.com\/en-us\/news\/doordash-dollar-tree-snap\">more than 1,000 Dollar Tree stores<\/a>. You can\u2019t use SNAP to pay delivery fees, though.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"online-dollar-stores-vs-walmart-amazon-and-temu\">Online Dollar Stores vs Walmart, Amazon and Temu<\/h2>\n<p>For a small order, Walmart and Amazon can beat online dollar stores. The glue sticks and tape were pickup only.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amazon:<\/strong> My prices came from my Prime account. Without Prime, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/help\/customer\/display.html?nodeId=GZXW7X6AKTHNUP6H\">Amazon\u2019s free shipping page<\/a> only says you need to reach \u201cthe stated minimum threshold.\u201d CNBC reported in 2023 that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/08\/28\/amazon-hikes-free-shipping-minimum-to-35-for-some-users-without-prime.html\">some shoppers without Prime were asked for $35<\/a> and others $25, so check your own cart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Temu:<\/strong> Its cart shows a $25 minimum before you can check out. If you\u2019d rather not drive, Walmart and Amazon carried all eight items.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"oriental-trading-for-cheap-party-supplies\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orientaltrading.com\/\">Oriental Trading<\/a> for cheap party supplies<\/h3>\n<p>If it\u2019s party supplies you\u2019re after, there\u2019s one more store outside the dollar store world that I\u2019d look at.<\/p>\n<p>Oriental Trading sells party supplies, crafts, toys and classroom supplies in small packs, like 12 cellophane treat bags for $1.98.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s how Oriental Trading shipping works:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orientaltrading.com\/h3-help-shipping-information.fltr\">Starts at $6.99<\/a> for orders up to $25 and goes up with your total<\/li>\n<li><strong>Where it ships:<\/strong> Alaska, Hawaii, military addresses and PO boxes (for an extra charge). Dollar Tree ships to neither of the last two, Five Below doesn\u2019t ship to military addresses, and DollarDays doesn\u2019t ship to PO boxes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"can-you-buy-just-one-item-from-an-online-dollar-store\">Can You Buy Just One Item From an Online Dollar Store?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes, three of the six online dollar stores that still ship will sell you just one item, but the shipping usually costs more than the item. Dollar Tree won\u2019t sell you just one at all, DollarDays sells almost everything by the case, and the Everything $1 Store needs a $10 order.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To test it, I priced one cheap item at four stores and took three of them through checkout:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Five Below phone cable:<\/strong> $7.00 for the cable, $7.95 for shipping and 82 cents tax, for a total of $15.77.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shop Miss A makeup sponge:<\/strong> $1.00 for the sponge, $3.95 for shipping and 21 cents tax, for a total of $5.16.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dollar King glue sticks:<\/strong> $1.99 for the glue, $9.99 for shipping and 51 cents tax, for a total of $12.49.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dollar Tree balloons:<\/strong> Latex balloon packs started at $1.25, but each one was sold 24 packs at a time. At checkout, it was $30.00 on a $47.52 cart and free on a $52.80 cart<\/li>\n<li><strong>Returns:<\/strong> 14 days on unopened items, with a 20% restocking fee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"11-dollar-item-direct\">11. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dollaritemdirect.com\/\">Dollar Item Direct<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Dollar Item Direct sells general goods and seasonal items by the case, to the public and to resellers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prices:<\/strong> School supplies run $0.78 to $3.20 per unit, like a 10-pack of stick pens for $1.10<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shipping:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dollaritemdirect.com\/ourpolicies.aspx\">$19.95 on orders under $100<\/a>, and about 15% of your order above that<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-save-money-at-online-dollar-stores\">How to Save Money at Online Dollar Stores<\/h2>\n<p>The sticker price isn\u2019t always the price you actually pay online.<\/p>\n<p>These three habits can help you avoid overpaying. They\u2019re also good rules for <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypantry.com\/save-money-when-shopping-online\/\">saving money when you shop online<\/a> anywhere else:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Check the price per piece before you buy:<\/strong> A $1.25 pack isn\u2019t a deal if a larger pack costs less per item elsewhere. For example, Walmart had 24 Cra-Z-Art crayons for $0.86 in my comparison. I didn\u2019t find Five Below or Shop Miss A on either one when I checked, so search a few other <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypantry.com\/best-cash-back-sites\/\">cash back sites<\/a> for them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treat coupons as a bonus, not a guarantee:<\/strong> Dollar Tree doesn\u2019t accept coupons online, and Family Dollar doesn\u2019t accept Smart Coupons online. Five Below sometimes sends promo codes by email, while <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypantry.com\/ways-to-save-money-at-dollar-general\/\">Dollar General\u2019s digital coupons<\/a> work on myDG Delivery orders. DollarStore.com opens a \u201csecurity check\u201d page that asks you to download software, so don\u2019t.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dollar Fanatic:<\/strong> Still open, but it now sells only <a href=\"https:\/\/dollarfanatic.com\/\">mystery boxes of 100 to 300 items<\/a>, starting at $79.99. Its owner now runs the Everything $1 Store, covered above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ollie\u2019s, Big Lots and Popshelf:<\/strong> These are <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypantry.com\/stores-like-dirt-cheap\/\">discount stores like Dirt Cheap<\/a>, not dollar stores, but a lot of shoppers go to them for the same cheap everyday items. None of them sell online. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ollies.com\/pages\/faqs\">Ollie\u2019s says so in its FAQ<\/a>. Popshelf is on DoorDash, and Dollar General says it\u2019s adding Popshelf to Instacart this fall.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for online dollar stores like Wish, Wish is still around, but it\u2019s a marketplace, not a dollar store, and so are most <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypantry.com\/wish-alternatives\/\">apps like Wish<\/a>. None were.<\/p>\n<p>For store policies, I used the companies\u2019 own websites first. I also used USDA and DoorDash for SNAP information and the FTC and BBB for safe-shopping information. Amazon prices came from search results, while Walmart prices are shown before tax because its checkout would not show me tax without an account.<\/p>\n<p>When a policy page differed from what I actually saw at checkout, I used the checkout result for the price test. For example, Shop Miss A\u2019s policy listed $4.95 shipping, but checkout charged $3.95, so I reported the $3.95 amount.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"are-online-dollar-stores-worth-it\">Are Online Dollar Stores Worth It?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes, but only when the total cost still makes sense after shipping and purchase minimums.<\/p>\n<p>My tests showed how quickly a cheap-looking cart can become expensive online: Dollar Tree\u2019s $12 worth of items became $342.64 after case requirements and shipping.<\/p>\n<p>For small purchases, free pickup or a regular retailer may make more sense.
