Former first lady Dr. Jill Biden said she prays to her late son, Beau Biden, as her family tries to support former President Joe Biden, who is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer.<\/p>\n

In a podcast out on Monday, Jill Biden spoke of her son, Beau, who died in 2015 after fighting brain cancer.<\/p>\n

“I pray to Beau, and I think he listens, and now with \u2026\u00a0Joe’s cancer diagnosis, I get a little frustrated and I say, ‘Beau, where are you? I need you,'” Jill Biden said on The Jamie Kern Lima Show.<\/p>\n

In an interview with NBC in June, she said the former president’s cancer has metastasized to his bones. Her comments come after she recently published her memoir, “View from the East Wing,” where she wrote about Beau Biden’s death, Hunter Biden’s struggle with drug addiction and the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n

While recounting Beau’s final moments and her relationship with faith at that time, the former first lady said she asked God to “take me” instead of Beau Biden.<\/p>\n

\u201cI kept praying and praying and saying \u2026 ‘Take me,’ or you know, we just try to make all these bargains and deals,” she said. “… I never ever gave up hope until Beau took his last breath, and so I just felt so betrayed by it.”<\/p>\n

She discussed Hunter Biden\u2019s recent public emergence, where he has openly discussed his addiction and recovery in media interviews and on social media, saying it’s “Hunter’s time to shine.”<\/p>\n

On the podcast, she recounted when prosecutors played excerpts of his memoir during his 2024 federal gun trial.<\/p>\n

“One of the toughest things I had to do was when Hunter was taken to court and they played his book on tape in the courtroom, to hear him tell his story in his own words, I mean it was, like, so heartbreaking. I do believe a lot of times that good things come from bad things, and I think now is Hunter’s time to shine,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n

Hunter Biden was found guilty on three felony gun charges<\/a> that stemmed from his purchase and possession of a gun while using narcotics in 2018.<\/p>\n

He has since spoken publicly about his struggles with substance abuse and recovery, using his experience to encourage others to seek help.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Jill Biden has acknowledged that hearing her son discuss those experiences has been difficult for her.<\/p>\n

“You don’t want to hear your son talking about doing crack cocaine, it’s just too hard,” she said on the podcast.<\/p>\n

“He’s given people with addiction hope,” she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
