Meta designed a dangerous product for young users, knew it to be dangerous, and then lied to children, families, and the community about how dangerous it was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;We are ready to hold Meta accountable for its role in fueling the mental health crisis of American children and look forward to trial,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">This new trial comes less than a week after a judge in New Mexico ordered Meta to pay<!-- -->\u00a0<!-- -->$567 million and make changes to its apps, saying they contributed to a youth mental health crisis. Meta has said it will appeal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Earlier this year, in a landmark trial in Los Angeles, a jury found Meta and YouTube, which is owned by Google, negligent in designing apps that harmed a now 20-year-old woman.
