Her attorney, Natalie F. Guerra-Valdes, told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/perez-hilton-mom-filed-for-custody-of-his-kids-after-live-stream-to-protect-children-exclusive-12058146\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PEOPLE in a new statement<\/a> that the family\u2019s primary concern is protecting the children and making sure they are safe.<\/p>\n<p>Hilton, 48, is the father of Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. The family recently moved from Las Vegas to Miami, and PEOPLE reports that the children are living with Lavandeira as the family focuses on their well-being.<\/p>\n<p>The request follows Hilton\u2019s August 4th hospitalization after authorities responded to reports that he appeared to be harming himself during a TikTok livestream from his Miami home. Additional court documents obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/08\/12\/celebrity-news\/perez-hiltons-mom-files-for-temporary-custody-of-celeb-bloggers-three-kids-after-self-harm-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Page Six<\/a> indicate that Hilton signed paperwork voluntarily consenting to the temporary custody arrangement and acknowledging that it was in his children\u2019s best interests.<\/p>\n<p>Under the requested arrangement, Lavandeira would be able to make necessary decisions involving matters such as the children\u2019s medical care and education. The documents also state that the arrangement is temporary and that Hilton can petition the court to have legal custody returned to him.<\/p>\n<h2>The Children Left the Home Before Authorities Arrived<\/h2>\n<p>Hilton\u2019s family previously revealed that his three children, his sister and his niece had been inside the home shortly before the livestream began. \u201cJust minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez\u2019s children, niece, and sister were inside the home,\u201d the family said in an earlier statement. When they realized Hilton was experiencing what they described as a \u201csevere mental health crisis,\u201d they said the family members \u201cimmediately fled\u201d with the children to prevent them from witnessing anything further.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities later said Hilton was alone inside the residence when deputies responded. The family said its highest priority was helping the children begin to heal and regain enough security to return home.
