Commenting beneath the publication\u2019s Instagram post, she asked who was paying Rogan that much money, suggested the money should go to veterans or children and called him \u201ccompletely uninformed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rogan, 58, was shown the comment during his August 5th episode with Andrew Wilson and initially laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s funny. She\u2019s rich,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cThat\u2019s crazy. That\u2019s what she said? I make too much? Is there a certain number I should make?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Rogan Said Handler\u2019s Criticism Caught Him Off Guard<\/h2>\n<p><noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Joe Rogan Experience #2535 - Andrew Wilson\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6SxEj1cujQE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>The subject came up roughly an hour and 45 minutes into Rogan\u2019s conversation with Wilson, after Handler\u2019s comment was brought to his attention. \u201cThat\u2019s funny. She\u2019s rich,\u201d he repeated, before asking whether there was some particular amount he was \u201csupposed\u201d to earn.<\/p>\n<p>What seemed to surprise him more was that the criticism came from someone he considered friendly. \u201cI can\u2019t be bothered, but I know her,\u201d Rogan said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/brobible.com\/culture\/article\/joe-rogan-reacts-to-chelsea-handler-podcast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BroBible<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve known her forever. I wrote a blurb for one of her earlier books.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rogan said he had \u201cnever had a bad word to say about her publicly\u201d and recalled greeting Handler warmly whenever they encountered each other. \u201cSo, I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on,\u201d he added. \u201cBut, it has nothing to do with me, you know, whatever it is. It\u2019s zero to do with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Handler Asked Why Rogan Was Making $82 Million<\/h2>\n<p>Handler\u2019s criticism began July 30th after Forbes published its annual ranking of podcast earners. \u201cWHO IS PAYING JOE ROGAN $82 Million?\u201d she wrote beneath the publication\u2019s Instagram post, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/chelsea-handler-calls-joe-rogan-completely-uninformed-highest-paid-podcaster-12031729\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PEOPLE<\/a>. \u201cGive that to our vets, or our children!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Handler then turned her criticism toward Rogan\u2019s commentary. \u201c82 million to be completely uninformed and say \u2018whoopsie doodle,\u2019 every time he\u2019s wrong, which is FREQUENT?\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<h2>The $82 Million Is a Forbes Estimate, Not a Spotify Salary<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/mattcraig\/2026\/07\/30\/the-highest-paid-podcasters-of-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forbes ranked Rogan No. 1<\/a> with estimated podcast-related earnings of $82 million between June 2025 and June 2026. The publication says its ranking estimates money earned by podcast talent and\/or their corporate entities through minimum guarantees, revenue sharing, platform fees and live events.<\/p>\n<p>The figures are pretax estimates based on interviews with agents, managers, lawyers, executives and other industry experts. Representation fees are not deducted.<\/p>\n<p>John Coogan and Jordi Hays of <em>TBPN<\/em> followed at an estimated $70 million, while Steven Bartlett was listed at $45 million, Ashley Flowers at $42 million and the <em>SmartLess<\/em> team of Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett at $37 million.<\/p>\n<h2>Rogan\u2019s Podcast Business Remains Enormous<\/h2>\n<p>Forbes reported that the show attracts more than 80 million downloads and views while Rogan releases approximately 15 episodes per month. The podcast has also remained a centerpiece of Spotify\u2019s audio business.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2024-02-02\/the-art-of-podcasting-with-joe-rogan-and-his-new-multiyear-spotify-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spotify announced a new multiyear partnership<\/a> with Rogan after his previous exclusive arrangement with the platform. Under the newer deal, <em>The Joe Rogan Experience<\/em> expanded to additional platforms instead of remaining exclusive to Spotify.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes reported that the three-year agreement could reach $250 million, though Spotify did not publicly disclose that figure in its own announcement.<\/p>\n<h2>Handler and Rogan Had Already Disagreed Over the Kevin Hart Roast<\/h2>\n<p>Earlier this year, Handler criticized material performed by Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe during Netflix\u2019s <em>The Roast of Kevin Hart<\/em>. During an appearance on Deon Cole\u2019s <em>Funny Knowing You<\/em>, she described some of the roast material as racist, bigoted, sexist and \u201cgross.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The controversy included jokes involving George Floyd and Sheryl Underwood\u2019s late husband. Rogan subsequently defended the boundaries of roast comedy and criticized professional comedians who treated deliberately offensive roast material as evidence that the performers themselves held racist beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut comedians that are getting upset about these roast jokes, fuck all the way off,\u201d Rogan said during a May episode of his podcast, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/pop-culture\/a\/bernadette-giacomazzo\/joe-rogan-kevin-hart-roast-traitors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complex<\/a>. \u201cYou know what this is.
