Erika Kirk<\/strong><\/a> delivered her first public address Wednesday from her late husband\u2019s empty chair on The Charlie Kirk Show<\/strong><\/a>. The Turning Point USA CEO sat composed in all black down to a black cap, four days after security had walked her out of the Washington Hilton in tears as she told someone off-camera, \u201cI just want to go home.\u201d The nine-minute monologue, framed as a call for civil discourse, was meant to diagnose what she called \u201ca serious epidemic of dehumanization plaguing this country.\u201d She invoked Romans 12:21: \u201cDo not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.\u201d<\/p>\n

She defined the epidemic in her own terms. \u201cIf you strip someone of their humanity long enough,\u201d she said, \u201cyou will arrive at the chilling conclusion that they don\u2019t deserve to exist at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, from the same chair, she said this about the people she had identified as carriers of the disease: \u201cThe reaction from the far left has been, at best, a shrug, and in some cases, a sick disappointment that the shooter was unsuccessful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the monologue, she had drawn the line plainly. \u201cWe want the best for our country,\u201d she said. \u201cThey don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel, Druski, Owens<\/h2>\n

Kirk also named individuals she described as carriers of the dehumanization she diagnosed. She criticized late-night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> for a sketch in which he joked that First Lady Melania Trump had \u201ca glow like an expectant widow,\u201d a routine that aired two days before the shooting. She referenced \u201ccomedians dressing up in whiteface,\u201d an apparent allusion to Druski<\/strong>, whose viral parody of conservative women circulated in March. She named conservative podcaster Candace Owens<\/strong>. \u201cI have Candace Owens claiming I murdered my husband,\u201d Kirk said.<\/p>\n

Owens, the former TPUSA communications director, has spent months promoting conspiracy theories about Erika Kirk in a multi-part docuseries titled \u201cBride of Charlie\u201d that premiered in February. And she described \u201cradicalized liberal teachers\u201d as a structural source of political violence, citing the alleged shooter\u2019s prior employment as a tutor at C2 Education in Torrance, California, where Cole Tomas Allen was named Teacher of the Month in December 2024. Federal prosecutors have charged Allen with attempting to assassinate the president.<\/p>\n

What Kirk Did Not Mention<\/h2>\n

Kirk\u2019s address did not engage parallel contributions to political rhetoric from her own movement.<\/p>\n

She did not reference her late husband\u2019s 2023 statement at a Turning Point USA Faith event, in which Charlie Kirk said annual gun deaths were a price worth paying for the Second Amendment. \u201cI think it\u2019s worth it,\u201d he said. \u201cI think it\u2019s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational.\u201d<\/p>\n
