Nilufa Easmin did everything right.<\/p>\n

She came to the United States from Bangladesh about three decades ago<\/a>. Raised two daughters here, both now in their twenties. Worked two jobs \u2014 one behind the counter of a Chevron gas station in Fort Myers, Florida. She was 51 and doing the thing politicians love to talk about but rarely reward: playing by the rules.<\/p>\n

On April 2, a man named Rolbert Joachin walked into that gas station, smashed a car windshield with a hammer, and when she came outside to confront him, beat her to death on the sidewalk. Then he stepped over her body and walked away.<\/p>\n

A woman went to work and didn\u2019t come home. Her daughters lost their mother. That should be the story. That should be enough.<\/p>\n

Instead, the national conversation moved almost instantly to borders, paperwork, and blame. Not to the woman on the sidewalk. Not to the daughters now planning a funeral. Not to the immigrant life that ended in front of the store where she was trying to make rent.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t enough for Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

He Posted the Video<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Thursday evening, Trump shared the surveillance footage on Truth Social<\/a>. Not a description. Not a still frame. The actual video of a woman being bludgeoned to death, posted by the sitting president to score an immigration point.<\/p>\n

He called the footage \u201cone of the most vicious things you will ever see,\u201d described Joachin as \u201can animal,\u201d and used the killing to sell the same political argument he always sells: immigrants are the danger, Democrats opened the door, and only his side is serious about closing it.<\/p>\n

His point: this is Joe Biden\u2019s fault. Joachin, a Haitian national, entered the country by boat in 2022 and was granted Temporary Protected Status in 2023. That much is true.<\/p>\n

So is the uglier truth that once Trump hit post, Easmin stopped being a person in his feed and became a prop in somebody else\u2019s political argument.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what Trump left out of his post.<\/p>\n

The Part Where the Math Stops Working<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Joachin\u2019s TPS was not revoked until this week, after the murder. The man Trump called \u201can animal released by Biden\u201d was still under protections that remained in place after Trump returned to office.<\/p>\n
