HAVANA — <\/span>Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel<\/a> has lashed out after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested he can do \u201cwhatever he wants\u201d with the island and that the U.S. could take \u201cimminent action\u201d<\/a> against it.<\/p>\n Writing on the social platform X late Tuesday, D\u00edaz-Canel said the Trump administration \u201cpublicly threatens\u201d Cuba\u2019s government almost daily with overthrowing it, and any act of aggression \u201cwill clash with an impregnable resistance.\u201d<\/p>\n The comments come after the new threats by Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said the Cuban government’s socialist economic model needs to \u201cchange dramatically.\u201d<\/p>\n While the Cuban government places heavy restrictions on the country’s private sector, decades of U.S. sanctions have crippled Cuba’s economy.<\/p>\n The Trump administration is looking for D\u00edaz-Canel<\/a> to leave as the U.S. continues negotiating with the Cuban government, according to a U.S. official and a source with knowledge of talks between Washington and Havana.
