The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 900 points on Thursday as the war<\/a> with Iran escalated and oil prices continued to climb.<\/p>\n

The Dow fell 908 points, or 1.8%, while S&P 500 dropped 1%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq declined 0.9%.<\/p>\n

Investors erased stock gains added a day earlier, resuming market turmoil<\/a> set off by the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Oil prices jumped as traders feared<\/a> a prolonged blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a trading route that facilitates the transport of about one-fifth of global oil supply.<\/p>\n

U.S. crude oil prices topped $79 on Thursday, hitting their highest level since June.<\/p>\n
