Ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told the House Oversight Committee that she never interacted with the late sex offender\u00a0Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>\u00a0and chastised committee members for repeatedly asking the same questions, according to video released Monday of last week’s closed-door depositions of the former secretary and of ex-President Bill Clinton.<\/p>\n The Republican-led committee questioned each of the Clintons<\/a> individually last week in their hometown of Chappaqua, New York, as part of an inquiry into the federal government’s handling of investigations into Epstein and his convicted co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.<\/p>\n From the beginning of her deposition, Hillary Clinton repeatedly told lawmakers that she never interacted with Epstein or knew about his crimes.\u00a0<\/p>\n She argued that the attempt to question her is part of an attempt to protect “one political party and one public official, rather than to seek truth and justice for the victims and survivors.”\u00a0<\/p>\n “You’ve compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation in order to distract President Trump’s actions and to cover them up, despite legitimate calls for answers,” Clinton said.<\/p>\n “If this committee is serious about learning the truth about Epstein’s trafficking crimes, it would not rely on press gaggles to get answers from our current president on his involvement, it would ask him directly under oath about the tens of thousands of times he shows up in the Epstein files,” she told committee members.<\/p>\n President Donald Trump<\/a> has denied any wrongdoing and knowledge of Epstein’s crimes. If you have one scintilla of evidence to the contrary, put it forward,” she said after being asked if she visited Epstein’s island. “I have never been on his island. Period. I’ve never been in his homes, his offices, his anything. I don’t know how many times you have to say the same thing over and over and over again. And I just am struggling with the relevance of all of this,” she said.<\/p>\n “I’m just saying you have kept me here for hours asking the same questions over and over again. I’ve given the same answers over and over again,” she said at one point.<\/p>\n ‘I’m done with this’\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n At ne point the former secretary of state became visibly frustrated when she learned that Rep. Lauren Boebert leaked a photo of the closed-door deposition.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I’m done with this. If you guys are doing that, I am done. You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behavior,” Clinton said.<\/p>\n “I did post one,” Boebert can be heard saying on the video.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Oh, for heaven’s sake,” Clinton said as she pounded the table.\u00a0<\/p>\n “It was before the hearing was…” Boebert responded, as Clinton cut her off.\u00a0<\/p>\n “It doesn’t matter. We all are abiding by the same rules,” Clinton said while pointing her finger at Boebert.<\/p>\n “I will take that down,” Boebert said, as Clinton stood up from the table.<\/p>\n Clinton also urged lawmakers to call in members of the Trump administration — including the president himself — to testify if they wanted to learn more about Epstein’s conduct.\u00a0<\/p>\n “The president of the United States is not above the law and should be in a setting like this answering questions under oath, as should others who are prominently featured in the files and especially the group that is featured after 2008,” she said.<\/p>\n Based on the handling of the Epstein files, Clinton alleged that Attorney General Pam Bondi “demonstrated either a gross incompetence” or engaged in a “clear cover up because they are protecting the president and others.” Bondi has argued that the Department of Justice, by releasing the files, is more transparent about Epstein than any prior administrations.<\/p>\n QAnon and PizzaGate<\/strong><\/p>\n As the deposition neared the four-hour mark, the former secretary of state was questioned by Rep. Lauren Boebert about the debunked and baseless 2016 QAnon conspiracy theory known as “Pizzagate.”<\/p>\n “In past public statements, as in 2017 speeches and interviews, you described Pizzagate as a baseless conspiracy theory alleging you and others ran a child sex trafficking ring from a Washington pizzeria’s basement … have you reviewed any 2025, 2026 Epstein files that were released that you believe reference or relate to those specific 2016 claims regarding the Podesta emails, Comet Ping Pong pizza used as code possibly?” Boebert asked.<\/p>\n Before Clinton could answer, her counsel interjected, asking incredulously if she was asking about the “wacky Pizzagate scandal.”<\/p>\n “You can characterize it however you want,” Boebert remarked.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Pizzagate was totally made up. It was an outrageous allegation that ended up hurting a number of people, that caused a deranged young man to show up with his assault rifle and shoot up a local pizzeria,” Clinton responded.<\/p>\n She later added, “I don’t follow the crazy conspiracy stories that are online. I regret that anybody does. I find it quite sad but also disturbing that people would believe some of what is put forth, like Pizzagate.”<\/p>\n During her opening statement Thursday, Hillary Clinton argued that the committee was attempting to protect “one political party and one public official rather than to seek truth and justice for the victims.”\u00a0<\/p>\n “You have made little effort to call the people who show up most prominently in the Epstein files. And when you did, not a single Republican member showed up for Les Wexner’s deposition,” she said of the former Epstein associate. “This institutional failure is designed to protect one political party and one public official rather than to seek truth and justice for the victims and survivors as well as inform the public who want to get to the bottom of this matter. “\u00a0<\/p>\n “I don’t know how many times I had to say I did not know Jeffrey Epstein. I never went to his island. I never went to his homes, I never went to his offices. So it’s on the record numerous times,” Hillary Clinton told reporters<\/a> after her closed-door session with the committee concluded Thursday.<\/p>\n The Clintons were subpoenaed to appear<\/a> under oath in front of the committee for a deposition in January, but failed to comply, arguing the subpoenas were without legal merit.
