During the Dec. 2 encounter at his home, she said, he \u201csmacked her across the face\u201d and then \u201ctried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck,\u201d leaving her feeling short of breath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Diggs\u2019 arraignment was originally slated for Jan. 23 but was moved to Feb. 13 \u2014 five days after the Patriots\u2019 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks \u2014 to accommodate his playing schedule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Diggs\u2019 attorney has said he \u201ccategorically denies these allegations,\u201d calling them unsubstantiated and motivated by a financial dispute. The Patriots released a statement saying they support him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Investigators allege the woman first reported the incident to police on Dec. 16, two weeks after it occurred; she initially hesitated to file charges but later chose to do so, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">The arraignment Friday will be the first court appearance in the case.
