For years, Charlie Kirk<\/a> was explicit about his views on Nicki Minaj.<\/p>\n

In a video clip now circulating again online, the Turning Point USA<\/a> founder criticized Minaj \u2014 alongside Cardi B \u2014 as a harmful influence on young Black women. \u201cBlack culture is being held captive by influences, songs, and role models,\u201d Kirk said, arguing that artists like Minaj were not \u201cgood role models for 18-year-old Black girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed to sexually explicit lyrics, unfavorably compared modern artists to what he described as Black role models of the 1940s and 1950s, and rejected discussions of systemic racism as discouraging rather than empowering.<\/p>\n

Fast forward, and the tone has shifted<\/h2>\n

In December 2025, Turning Point USA hosted Minaj at AmericaFest, its annual conference in Phoenix, drawing roughly 30,000 attendees. The event took place just months after Charlie Kirk\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

His widow, Erika Kirk \u2014 now TPUSA\u2019s CEO and chair \u2014 conducted the onstage interview herself.<\/p>\n

Minaj walked out to \u201cSuper Bass,\u201d praised President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, and told the crowd that Trump had given people \u201chope that there\u2019s a chance to beat the bad guys and win.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also made comments about gender \u2014 including saying \u201cboys should be boys\u201d \u2014 that drew criticism from LGBTQ+ advocates. Clips of the appearance were later shared by the White House on X.<\/p>\n

Minaj\u2019s political turn didn\u2019t stop at AmericaFest<\/h2>\n

In January 2026, Minaj continued publicly aligning herself with the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

On January 18, she attacked journalist Don Lemon on X after he covered an ICE protest at a Minnesota church, using a homophobic slur and calling for him to be jailed. When the exchange was raised later on The Katie Miller Podcast, Minaj dismissed the criticism and later acknowledged using the language deliberately to provoke attention.<\/p>\n

Later that month, she appeared at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., declaring herself \u201cprobably the president\u2019s number one fan\u201d while standing onstage with Trump. She also posted a photo of a Trump Gold Card, claiming it had been given to her \u201cfree of charge.\u201d A White House official later told The New York Times the card was merely a memento with no legal significance.<\/p>\n

Minaj, a legal permanent resident for roughly two decades, went on to attend additional Trump-adjacent events, including the premiere of the documentary Melania at the Trump Kennedy Center.<\/p>\n

Old comments, new context<\/h2>\n

As Minaj\u2019s political alignment became more visible, older footage resurfaced.<\/p>\n

One widely shared clip from a 2015 Tidal festival performance shows Minaj mocking Melania Trump and urging the audience to \u201cpray to God you don\u2019t get stuck with\u201d someone like her. Minaj has not commented on the resurfaced clips.<\/p>\n

In October 2025, Turning Point USA announced the All-American Halftime Show, a conservative counter-program to the NFL\u2019s Super Bowl LX halftime show featuring Bad Bunny.<\/p>\n

The broadcast is scheduled to air during halftime on February 8, 2026, across platforms including Real America\u2019s Voice, TBN, YouTube, X, and Rumble. The announced lineup includes Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. Minaj was not named.<\/p>\n

Still, following her appearance at AmericaFest, speculation has grown about whether she could appear as a surprise guest. Turning Point USA has not confirmed or denied whether additional performers will be involved.<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny, meanwhile, won three Grammys on Sunday, including Album of the Year, and used his acceptance speech to criticize U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement while affirming immigrant identity.<\/p>\n

Whether or not Nicki Minaj ultimately appears during Turning Point USA\u2019s Super Bowl counter-program, one thing has already happened.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charlie Kirk once framed her as a damaging influence on Black culture. Under Erika Kirk\u2019s leadership, TPUSA has welcomed her onstage and embraced her as a political ally.<\/p>\n

The earlier critique hasn\u2019t been revised or explained. It\u2019s simply been left behind.<\/p>\n

And that silence may say more than any surprise halftime appearance ever could.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
