Venezuela\u2019s interim president Delcy Rodriguez announced on Sunday that the country\u2019s first shipment of liquefied petroleum gas had been exported.<\/p>\n
The announcement in a post on her Telegram channel on Sunday comes almost a month after President Donald Trump ordered a military operation that led to the capture of Venezuela\u2019s former President Nicolas Maduro, who now faces federal charges in the U.S.<\/p>\n
Rodriguez, Maduro\u2019s former vice president, was sworn in as the interim president after his capture in January.<\/p>\n

(AP Photo\/Ariana Cubillos)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Ariana Cubillos\/AP<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Rodriguez said the ship, the Chrysopigi Lady, had set sail from Venezuela \u201cwith the first shipment of Liquefied Petroleum Gas,\u201d in a post, originally in Spanish.<\/p>\n The Singapore-flagged Chrysopigi Lady left from a port in northern Venezuela on the evening of Feb. 1 and is set to arrive in Providence, Rhode Island, according to marinetraffic.com.<\/p>\n \u201cProud to share this moment: the vessel Chrysopigi Lady has set sail from Venezuela with the first shipment of Liquefied Petroleum Gas,\u201d Rodriguez said in the post. \u201cWe are marking this historic milestone by exporting the country\u2019s first molecule of gas; an achievement for the well-being of the people of Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n Rodriguez faces key tests in the weeks ahead. Photo by: Jesus Vargas\/picture-alliance\/dpa\/AP Images<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Jesus Vargas\/picture-alliance\/dpa\/AP Images<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Last week, Rodriguez appeared to struggle publicly with the appropriate tone to both satisfy Washington and assert Venezuela\u2019s independence.<\/p>\n Rodriguez said Venezuela has \u201copened a space for political dialogue,\u201d but warned “those who seek to perpetuate harm and aggression against the people of Venezuela should stay in Washington,\u201d in public comments during a ceremony recognizing her as Venezuela\u2019s Commander-in-Chief in Caracas on Jan. 28.<\/p>\n Rodriguez also said \u201cno one\u201d in Venezuela surrendered during the military operation on Jan. 3. \u201cThat is why I say honor and glory to the heroes and heroines of January 3, 2026,\u201d she said during the ceremony on Jan. 28.<\/p>\n About 100 people overall were killed during the U.S. military operation on Jan. 3, Venezuela\u2019s interior minister, Diosdado Cabello, said on Jan. 8,\u00a0according to Reuters<\/a>.
