{"id":328017,"date":"2025-12-16T09:38:50","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T14:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/the-most-common-hiding-places-for-holiday-gifts"},"modified":"2025-12-16T09:38:53","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T14:38:53","slug":"the-most-common-hiding-places-for-holiday-gifts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/the-most-common-hiding-places-for-holiday-gifts","title":{"rendered":"The Most Widespread Hiding Locations for Vacation Presents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\">\n<p>Parents are all about the holiday hype:\u00a0a new survey has found 55% get just as excited as their kids when it\u2019s time to unwrap gifts.<\/p>\n<p>But the real challenge,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/talkerresearch.com\/millennial-parents-struggle-to-keep-gift-opening-joy-alive-amid-kids-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to the poll<\/a>\u00a0of 2,000 U.S. millennial parents, is keeping the joy of opening gifts alive on holiday mornings from persistent, curious children.<\/p>\n<p>Amidst the chaos of opening gifts (which nearly all 98% said they love), many let their morning coffee or tea go cold (48%), miss phone calls and texts (44%) and will stop everything to assemble or set up gifts as soon as they\u2019re opened (37%).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Kids Ask About Gifts 51 Times on Average<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Commissioned by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lowe\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0and conducted by Talker Research, the study revealed that kids ask their parents about their gifts an average of 51 times over the course of the holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>Data shows parents are using gifts as a bribery tool an average of 39 times during the holiday months, with over half (56%) using a holiday-related character (i.e., Santa Claus, Krampus, Jack Frost, etc.) to deter their kid from snooping for their gifts.<\/p>\n<p>To keep those presents a secret, most parents are putting major effort into hiding them ahead of the holidays. Two in three (63%) disguise gifts as something else to keep their kids from suspecting, and 34% will let their kids find decoy gifts to throw them off the scent.<\/p>\n<p>However, over half (55%) of parents admitted their hiding skills sometimes get the best of them \u2014they\u2019ve forgotten where they\u2019ve hidden gifts, only finding them after the holidays. In fact, 29% have had to re-buy gifts because they were too well hidden or misplaced.<\/p>\n<p>The study found many parents are sticking to their tried-and-true hiding spots for gifts, like in closets (56%), their bedroom (54%), in their car (26%), in the basement (22%), and even in the garage (20%).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Creative Spots: Suitcases, Appliances, and Trash <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Others are getting even more creative: hiding gifts at a family member\u2019s or friend\u2019s home (19%), in the attic (15%), in suitcases (13%), in sheds (13%), at work (10%), inside appliances (8%) and in the trash (4%).<\/p>\n<p>Some shared the more bizarre places they\u2019ve tucked away gifts: basement crawl spaces, behind hanging artwork, in cereal boxes, in dirty laundry and even in the doghouse.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the lengths they go to hide what their kids are most excited for during the holidays, parents can\u2019t help but feel excitement (62%), joy (44%) and nostalgia (39%) when keeping their gifts hidden successfully.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f6fc225fc372e07ba01a9ed6b4cc4d7d\"><strong>Top 10 Things Kids Get Excited About During the Holidays<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gifts \u2013 81%<\/li>\n<li>Holiday lights\/decorations \u2013 72%<\/li>\n<li>Holiday foods\/treats \u2013 67%<\/li>\n<li>Winter break \/ time off school \u2013 66%<\/li>\n<li>Holiday entertainment \u2013 62%<\/li>\n<li>Family traditions \u2013 60%<\/li>\n<li>Snow \u2013 52%<\/li>\n<li>Outdoor activities \u2013 51%<\/li>\n<li>Staying up past their typical bedtime \u2013 44%<\/li>\n<li>Seeing extended family \u2013 43%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Survey methodology:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em><strong>Talker Research surveyed 2,000 American millennial homeowners who are parents of children aged 3 to 15 who have access to the internet;<\/strong>\u00a0the survey was commissioned by\u00a0<strong>Lowe\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>and administered and conducted online by Talker Research between Oct. 13 and Oct. 20, 2025.
