A new study has found one in three Americans reward themselves with something sweet more than once per day \u2014 and 46% crave sweets by noon.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/talkerresearch.com\/nearly-half-of-americans-cant-make-it-till-noon-without-a-sweet-treat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to a new poll<\/a>\u00a0of 2,000 U.S. adults, where 47% said only something sweet can satisfy their cravings, compared with salty (21%), savory (18%) and bitter (13%) foods.<\/p>\n<p>By generation, 46% of millennials and Gen Xers alike crave sweet things. Sweets were also heavily favored by older generations (49% of baby boomers and 51% of the Silent Generation). They were least favored by Gen Zers (43%).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Sweet Snacking for Reward and Mood Boost<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Conducted by Talker Research on behalf of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.driscolls.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Driscoll\u2019s<\/a>, the study found when people reach for sweet snacks, 53% do so to treat or reward themselves, while 37% cite mood-boosting as a motivator.<\/p>\n<p>Convenience (36%), taste and texture (28%), nostalgia (23%) and celebration (14%) also play a role. And for many, eating something sweet doesn\u2019t mean compromising on health.<\/p>\n<p>When they reach for a sweet treat, 43% said they more often go for the \u201chealthy\u201d sweet options over the unhealthy ones. In fact, 42% believe it\u2019s easy to find foods that can be both sweet and healthy.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents also shared what they believe truly makes certain foods healthy: nutritional value (60%), freshness (45%), being whole and unprocessed (43%) and being organic (29%).<\/p>\n<p>Two-thirds recognize they\u2019d be more likely to choose healthy, sweet food options\u00a0at home if they were more accessible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a clear shift happening in how Americans think about sweet treats,\u201d said Frances Dillard, Chief Communications Officer for Driscoll\u2019s. \u201cFlavor-forward berries aren\u2019t just competing, they\u2019re winning, as a healthier way to satisfy a sweet tooth. The data shows that indulgence and health don\u2019t have to be opposites\u2014berries are bridging that gap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The desire to satisfy a sweet tooth without sacrificing health has led many to opt for berries as their go-to.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 94% of respondents said they regularly eat berries \u2014 10% eat them daily,43% eat them several times a week.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Planning To Use Berries in Holiday Dishes<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Respondents say the best times to eat berries are when they\u2019re snacking at home (53%), any time of day as a snack (44%), in the morning with breakfast (44%) or with lunch (27%). Others enjoy them on picnics (21%), with dinner (19%), at beaches and parks (17%) and at parties (16%).<\/p>\n<p>If they\u2019re craving something sweet, people say they\u2019d first reach for strawberries (70%), blueberries (48%), raspberries (31%), and blackberries (28%).<\/p>\n<p>Three-quarters (76%) prefer to eat berries fresh on their own; 19% prefer adding them to dishes and meals as toppings; 5% prefer cooking them into meals.<\/p>\n<p>Many are also preparing their berry plans ahead of the holiday season: two in three said they\u2019ll likely use berries in their upcoming Thanksgiving and holiday dishes this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBerries hit the sweet spot for flavor and versatility that can enhance any kind of moment,\u201d continued Dillard. \u201cThey\u2019re natural, fresh, and genuinely satisfying, so they work just as well for everyday breakfasts and snacks as they do for special occasions and connecting with those you love.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-95bdd23e09e8b28c1c46fe542f62c402\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>What Motivates People To Reach for Something Sweet?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To treat or reward themselves \u2013 53%<\/li>\n<li>To boost my mood when they\u2019re feeling down \u2013 37%<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s easy to eat \u2013 36%<\/li>\n<li>They prefer the taste and texture to other flavor profiles \u2013 28%<\/li>\n<li>When they\u2019re feeling nostalgic or need comforting \u2013 23%<\/li>\n<li>To celebrate \u2013 14%<\/li>\n<li>It pairs best with beverages \u2013 14%<\/li>\n<li>It has a healthy component \u2013 10%<\/li>\n<li>The aroma is better than other flavor profiles \u2013 10%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Survey methodology:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em><strong>Talker Research surveyed 2,000 general population Americans;<\/strong>\u00a0the survey was commissioned by\u00a0<strong>Driscoll\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0and administered and conducted online by Talker Research between\u00a0<strong>Sept. 22 and Sept. 26, 2025.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wealthofgeeks.com\/how-frequently-do-americans-indulge-in-a-sweet-treat\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, you really do deserve sweet treats every day, all day.
