{"id":326109,"date":"2025-11-21T07:59:29","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T12:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/cyber-monday-fatigue-grows-as-bots-and-scams-frustrate-shoppers"},"modified":"2025-11-21T07:59:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T12:59:32","slug":"cyber-monday-fatigue-grows-as-bots-and-scams-frustrate-shoppers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/cyber-monday-fatigue-grows-as-bots-and-scams-frustrate-shoppers","title":{"rendered":"Cyber Monday Fatigue Grows as Bots and Scams Frustrate Consumers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\" readability=\"116.92537313433\">\n<p>Two in five Americans aren\u2019t planning to shop Cyber Monday this year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/talkerresearch.com\/why-two-in-five-are-skipping-cyber-monday-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to new research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A survey of 2,000 U.S. adults revealed that 42% don\u2019t intend to knock out their gift lists in what was once dubbed the \u201ceasiest\u201d way possible, and another 54% share the same sentiment about shopping in-store on Black Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps due to bots and more frequent sales, more than seven in 10 (71%) agree that Black Friday and Cyber Monday aren\u2019t the same as they used to be.<\/p>\n<p>Even beyond Cyber Monday, results found that stolen payment information (47%), quality issues (44%) and even all-out scams (39%) are deterring people from shopping online.<\/p>\n<p>Still, more than three-quarters (76%) of those polled believe there\u2019s just a certain amount of risk you have to take in the 21st Century.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>People Go to Great Lengths for the Perfect Gift<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Conducted by Talker Research on behalf of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/world.org\/blog\/announcements\/how-bots-are-stealing-holiday-joy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World<\/a>, results revealed that, despite skipping out on the two biggest shopping days of the year, 60% of those polled admit they\u2019ll go to great lengths to secure the perfect gift during the holidays.<\/p>\n<p>This includes spending multiple hours scrolling through different websites (39%), waiting in an hours-long queue just for their chance to purchase the item (20%) or even scouring an average of five different online vendors.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what the most desperate or risky thing they\u2019ve done in order to secure that gift, respondents outlined scenarios such as, \u201cbuying an item for twice its value and paying more than the cost of the item just to have it shipped to me on time\u201d or driving \u201cfive hours away in a snow storm, then waited in a long line for another 3 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One respondent even found themselves sending money to someone they weren\u2019t sure was real or not.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of some extreme lengths, two-thirds (67%) of respondents find themselves frequently battling bots for the best products online.<\/p>\n<p>For some, these bots force them to go back in-store (34%), search multiple sites at the same time (32%) or even pay a higher price (24%). But for others, that means missing out on the item entirely (29%) or scouring second-hand markets (20%).<\/p>\n<p>Another 64% would even go so far as to say that the joy of shopping for the holidays is being \u201cstolen\u201d by bots and three-quarters believe that bots will be a bigger problem for holiday shoppers this year than last year.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Low Confidence in Spotting Fake Products<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to the results, only 18% of those polled are \u201cvery confident\u201d that they\u2019re able to tell what\u2019s a legitimate product and what\u2019s a fake product when shopping online, while another 41% are \u201csomewhat confident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Overall, almost three in five (57%) believe that bots are a huge issue for online shoppers and have been for the last six years.<\/p>\n<p>This may be why 90% of Americans polled emphasize the importance of being able to verify that they\u2019re making a purchase from an actual human being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHoliday shopping shouldn\u2019t leave you guessing \u2018bot or not,\u2019 where the Grinch wears silicon instead of fur.\u201d said Trevor Traina, Chief Business Officer at World. \u201cConsumers want fairness, and that starts with knowing who, or what, is on the other side of the transaction.
