{"id":326002,"date":"2025-11-20T10:50:52","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T15:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/do-the-holidays-fall-flat-without-butter"},"modified":"2025-11-20T10:50:55","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T15:50:55","slug":"do-the-holidays-fall-flat-without-butter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/do-the-holidays-fall-flat-without-butter","title":{"rendered":"Do the Holidays Fall Flat With out Butter?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\" readability=\"138.53324780842\">\n<p>Nearly two-thirds\u00a0of Americans said\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0be\u00a0\u201cdoomed\u201d if they run out of butter during their holiday baking and cooking this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/talkerresearch.com\/from-mashed-potatoes-to-cornbread-why-butter-is-a-holiday-staple\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">That\u2019s\u00a0according to a recent survey<\/a>\u00a0of 2,000 Americans who celebrate the winter holidays, which found that 63% feel\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0be done for if they run out of one vital ingredient while cooking during the holidays \u2014\u202fbutter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The survey took a deep dive into all things butter-related for National Butter Day on\u00a0Nov. 17, and\u00a0leading\u00a0up to the whirlwind of cooking during the holiday season. And with its many uses for sweet and savory dishes alike, the survey proved that butter really is a holiday kitchen superhero.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Talker Research on behalf of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spartannash.com\/butter-makes-it-better\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SpartanNash<\/a>, the results revealed that Americans spread more than just cheer during the holidays,\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0spreading butter \u2014 and lots of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the average household uses five sticks of butter for\u00a0their baking\u00a0and cooking during each winter holiday, compared to the two sticks of butter the average household uses per week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the holiday dishes where respondents dubbed butter to be most critical, mashed potatoes (79%) and dinner rolls (77%) naturally topped the list, and were followed by corn (72%), cornbread (62%), sweet potatoes (52%)\u00a0and stuffing (34%).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Americans\u2019 Love Affair With Butter<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Nearly three-quarters\u00a0of Americans (72%) are so much in love with butter that they cited it as one of their favorite ingredients and condiments, and 61% said they \u201cliterally cannot live without butter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cButter makes everything better, and this holiday season, shoppers are adding butter to their carts to incorporate into all of their favorite dishes,\u201d said SpartanNash senior vice president and chief marketing officer\u202fErin Storm. \u201cAnd for all you holiday hosts spreading joy out there, now we know the real holiday cooking hero is butter.\u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0get caught without it!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This love affair with butter shows in a big way during the holiday cooking marathon. Fifty-eight percent of respondents revealed that\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0gone to the grocery store or sent someone for them solely to buy butter during holiday seasons past.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This may be because there just\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0anything that can make a dish really pop like the real thing. In the survey, most people (57%) said they try to avoid substituting butter for an alternate ingredient if they can help it when cooking and baking.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked what they\u2019d do if they were making a holiday recipe that called for butter and they didn\u2019t have any on hand, most respondents said they would go to the grocery store to buy some (70%), with baby boomers being the most likely to do this (76%).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some would phone a friend or family member to bring them some (33%), and many said\u00a0they\u2019d\u00a0order it from a grocery delivery service (24%), with Gen Z being most likely to\u00a0go\u00a0this route (33%).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Only a few would rather use a substitute ingredient (15%) instead of butter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No matter what ingredients\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0in desperate need of, butter emergency or otherwise, Americans said they make an average of three last-minute grocery runs during the typical holiday season to pick up must-have ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>And based on the survey findings, it comes as no surprise that eight in 10 respondents (80%) labeled butter as one of their baking and cooking \u201csecret ingredients,\u201d with Gen Z (84%) being most likely to say this.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Feeling quite confident in their butter knowledge and affinity, many people in the survey (57%) labeled themselves as \u201cexperts\u201d about what\u2019s considered \u201cgood butter\u201d and what\u2019s not.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Settling the Butter Etiquette Debate<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cButter is trending this holiday season \u2013 from traditional to flavored \u2013 and our stores will have what you\u2019re looking for, including our new Fresh &amp;
