Sweet!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n You can make it complicated, but we can simplify it into a few steps.<\/p>\n I run a few podcasts and use the 80\/20 rule<\/a> to make them easy…<\/p>\n So, I’ll give you a quick <\/em>overview, and then we’ll get straight to my cheat sheet. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n Okay, a quick overview (60-second version<\/em>).<\/p>\n You’re making a recording that you can share with friends (and new friends).<\/p>\n You’re taking a file (like an MP3 recording) and uploading it to a store service.<\/p>\n That service also communicates with all platforms like Apple <\/a>and Spotify <\/a>(so you don’t have to).<\/p>\n That’s it.<\/em><\/p>\n You make content and upload it, and they do the rest.<\/p>\n Great, you’re ready to go.<\/p>\n So here’s my cheat sheet.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n You must<\/em> have a podcast host to store your files online. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n Use Buzzsprout<\/a> (my referral link that gives you $20)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n If your budget is under $100, get the Samson Q2U USB microphone<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (I have one and love it).<\/p>\n For under $300, get the Shure MV7 USB microphone<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (you see this in lots of YouTube podcast videos).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n You need a quiet room that won’t create an echo.<\/p>\n Rooms with hard floors and walls = bad.<\/em><\/p>\n Rooms with carpet and drapes = good.<\/em><\/p>\n If you’re doing audio, do you know the best podcast studio?<\/p>\n A closet.<\/p>\n Yep, a closet.<\/em><\/p>\n Carpet and tons of clothes to absorb sound.<\/p>\n And it’s free. Easy, free options for you to edit your podcast MP3 files.<\/p>\n Audacity <\/a>(Windows) and GarageBand<\/a> (Apple) There are plenty of paid options. Descript is a good one<\/a> (I use this<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Play around with these. There’s a learning curve, but you’ll be a pro soon.<\/p>\n If you want to keep it simple, you can create a standard intro and outro for every episode you produce.<\/p>\n [And if that’s holding you up, launch your podcast simply with your main show content and expand into intro and outros after you get a feel for it. Don’t let the friction stop you.
