{"id":320463,"date":"2025-04-14T11:42:44","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T16:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/homeowners-see-their-homes-as-self-expression"},"modified":"2025-04-14T11:43:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T16:43:02","slug":"homeowners-see-their-homes-as-self-expression","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.etrafficlane.com\/60dollarmiracle\/homeowners-see-their-homes-as-self-expression","title":{"rendered":"Householders See Their Houses as Self-Expression"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\" readability=\"132.733648346\">\n<p>Four in five homeowners see their home as an extension of themselves,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/talkerresearch.com\/how-homeowners-see-their-home-as-an-extension-of-themselves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to new research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The survey of 2,000 American homeowners explored respondents\u2019 attachments to their homes, and the results revealed that 78% see their homes as a part of themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Millennial homeowners were the most likely to agree with this idea, at 88%.<\/p>\n<p>Results also found that 35% of respondents claim there are no aspects of their homes that they would change, if given the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Talker Research for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/systempavers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">System Pavers<\/a>, the survey explored what it is about respondents\u2019 homes they love so much \u2014 digging into their purchasing priorities.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents were given a variety of features and asked which they prioritized the most when initially purchasing their home.<\/p>\n<p>Topping the list of desired elements, 33% of respondents who chose the style of their home as one of their top priorities said it was the No. 1 thing they considered, while square footage was the top pick for 29% who prioritized that when browsing.<\/p>\n<h2>Style Was the Top Priority for 33% When Purchasing a Home<\/h2>\n<p>Another 23% of those who looked for a backyard said it was the most important feature when purchasing a home.<\/p>\n<p>For those who have exterior elements to their home \u2014 a backyard, a porch, etc. \u2014\u00a060% said they spend as much time as possible in those exterior areas.<\/p>\n<p>Millennials were the most likely to agree \u2014\u00a082% of millennials surveyed said they spend as much time as they can in the outdoor spaces of their home, compared to 56% of baby boomers.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, but millennials were also the generation most likely to want more exterior space for their home \u2014\u00a061%, versus 32% of boomers surveyed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we&#8217;re seeing, especially with millennial homeowners, is a focus on turning outdoor areas into amazing entertainment spaces,\u201d said Cassi Hallam, chief marketing officer at System Pavers. \u201cIt&#8217;s more than just adding value to the house; it&#8217;s about creating a place where they can truly relax and enjoy time with friends and family. They&#8217;re prioritizing having a dedicated outdoor space that reflects personal style and makes everyday living feel a bit more special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Backyards are the most favored outdoor areas (70%), followed by gardens (69%), front yards (61%) and decks (61%) by those who have them.<\/p>\n<p>Front yards and gardens are most likely to be voted as the \u201cpride\u201d of respondents\u2019 homes (87% each).<\/p>\n<p>When asked what they\u2019d most like to use their outdoor space for, relaxing was the first choice by quite a margin, at 51%. The second choice, gardening, was selected by 17% of respondents.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents also said they like to, \u201csit in the backyard while my dog enjoys being outside,\u201d and they enjoy \u201chaving children and grandchildren visit and play in the yard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another respondent said, \u201cI enjoy all of my outdoor areas, but I enjoy my garden the most for what it gives back,\u201d while a fourth highlighted the joy of, \u201csitting on the porch during nice weather.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>27% Miss Outdoor Time a Lot When Weather Is Bad<\/h2>\n<p>When the weather is poor and respondents aren\u2019t able to spend time outside, 27% said they \u201cmiss it a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And 63% of respondents with an exterior space agreed: No feeling compares to the first moment you can go outside in your yard after bad weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting outside with loved ones in a beautiful space sets the stage for making those special moments together,\u201d Hallam said. \u201cWe love helping homeowners transform their backyards into places where life happens.
