\u00c1ngel Salazar<\/strong> \u2014 best known as Al Pacino\u2019s trusted sidekick \u201cChi Chi\u201d in the iconic gangster film \u201cScarface\u201d \u2014 has died, TMZ has learned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Salazar\u2019s rep and closest friend, Ann Wingsong, tells TMZ \u2026 the actor passed away in his sleep at his friend\u2019s Brooklyn home over the weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n On Sunday morning, Wingsong said, the friend went to check on Salazar in a room and found his body in bed. A cause of death was not disclosed, but the rep said Salazar suffered from heart issues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Early in his acting career, Salazar landed the role of Chi Chi, the devoted henchman of Pacino\u2019s famous Tony Montana character in the 1983 Brian DePalma-directed film \u201cScarface.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Fans of the legendary movie will never forget Chi Chi saving Tony\u2019s life during the so-called \u201cchainsaw scene.\u201d They will also never forget Chi Chi\u2019s bloody demise at the end of the flick when his back gets riddled with bullets from a hit squad hired by drug kingpin Alejandro Sosa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n Of course, Tony Montana also goes down in hail of bullets at the hands of Sosa\u2019s gun-wielding assassins.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Outside of his work in \u201cScarface,\u201d Salazar was also known for working opposite Tom Hanks<\/strong><\/a> in the 1988 dramedy, \u201cPunchline\u201d and Pacino again in 1993 drama, \u201cCarlito\u2019s Way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Salazar was also a celebrated comedian, who had a number of HBO comedy specials and an appearance on \u201cLast Comic Standing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
