NBA legend Bill Walton<\/strong> \u2014 arguably the biggest Grateful Dead fan on the planet \u2014 received a huge tribute at the Dead & Company Sphere show Thursday night \u2026 three days after he tragically passed away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The band \u2014 which consists of John Mayer<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>and Bob Weir<\/strong><\/a>, plus <\/strong>other former Grateful Dead members \u2014 projected images of Walton behind them throughout their hourslong concert at the must-see attraction in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Some of the pics displayed on the building\u2019s massive screens included Walton with Weir and Mickey Hart<\/strong><\/a>. They also featured the former Celtics center\u2019s No. 32 jersey number, rose petals \u2026 and a whole bunch of tie-dye colors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A rep for the band tells TMZ Sports<\/strong> \u2026 the projections first began during the artists\u2019 rendition of \u201cDrums.\u201d They continued during \u201cFire on the Mountain.\u201d At the end of the performance, the band put up one last homage to Walton \u2014 which stayed up until everyone left the venue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n <\/a>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n Walton, of course, was well deserving of the honor \u2014 considering he was truly one of the band\u2019s biggest supporters. In his lifetime, it was estimated he attended over 1,000 GD shows \u2014 and after he passed away, Hart called him his \u201cbest friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n We\u2019re told the tribute was a special addition to Thursday night\u2019s show only \u2026 and will not continue throughout the rest of their Sphere residency.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n![\"\"\/](\"https:\/\/etrafficlane.com\/newline\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/1717172333_398_Bill-Walton-Honored-At-Dead-amp-Company-Sphere-Concert.jpg\")
