Ryan Reynolds<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 new movie \u201cIF\u201d must have a lot of imaginary friends in the crowd \u2026 \u2019cause it\u2019s tanking at the box office despite the star-studded cast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Deadline<\/strong><\/a> reports the movie made just $10.3 million on Friday \u2014 including previews \u2014 and, it\u2019s headed for just a $30 million opening \u2026 lower than initial estimates projected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Plus, another negative for the creative new picture \u2026 critics seem to want it to disappear like a kid\u2019s IF when they grow up \u2014 it\u2019s currently got a shockingly low 49% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/strong><\/a> despite its all-star cast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n To be fair, audiences love the flick \u2026 it\u2019s got an 84% audience score on RT \u2014 so, fans are happy with the finished product at the very least.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n BTW \u2026 Deadline\u2019s telling movie industry execs not to panic \u2014 \u2019cause Paramount took a chance on the film. They say PG-rated live-action films usually don\u2019t make a ton, and critics generally don\u2019t like them, but they fill a specific niche that usually leads to success long term.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n \u201cIF\u201d follows Cal (Reynolds) a man who helps forgotten Imaginary Friends reconnect with the kids who created them after they grow up. The movie stars John Krasinski <\/strong><\/a>\u2014 who also directed it \u2014 Steve Carell<\/strong><\/a>, Emily Blunt<\/strong><\/a>, Awkwafina<\/strong><\/a>, Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a>, Vince Vaughn<\/strong><\/a>, Matt Damon<\/strong><\/a> and a whole lot more.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Obviously, with the stellar cast, the movie\u2019s gotta make a boatload to recoup its budget which Deadline says is around $110 million.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n But, maybe producers just need to keep stay positive and keep believing in \u201cIF.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n\n
