Faye Dunaway<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s owning up to her rep for being a bit of a handful \u2026 but she says there was more to it than just her being difficult, \u2019cause she was actually dealing with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cBonnie and Clyde\u201d legend dives deep into her diagnosis in a new Cannes Film Festival doc about her life called \u201cFaye\u201d which premiered Wed \u2014 and she reveals a team of docs really dug into her behavior, hooked her up with some meds and it helped her a lot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Faye says she finally understood the reason for the way she was \u2026 adding, \u201cIt\u2019s something you need to be aware of, you need to try to do the right thing to take care of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n But, as for those claims of her alleged nightmare-ish behavior at the height of her career, Faye acknowledges, \u201cI don\u2019t mean to make an excuse about it, I am still responsible for my actions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n If you aren\u2019t familiar, Faye\u2019s past behavior even ruffled feathers with fellow icon Bette Davis<\/strong><\/a>, who famously told Johnny Carson<\/strong><\/a> working with Dunaway was impossible and uncooperative.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n But, back to her Laurent Bouzereau<\/strong>-directed doc \u2026 Faye says her diagnosis is just part of her make-up now and a sensitivity she\u2019s learned to navigate \u2014 but she\u2019s super grateful to all the doctors, meds and research surrounding the whole thing in the modern era.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n FD\u2019s son also chimes in, describing his mom\u2019s journey \u2026 saying she \u201cstarted out as a normal person wanting to be famous, and ended up as a famous person wanting to be normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n\n
