John Mayer<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s pissed a journalist asked his pal Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> if he and John are hooking up \u2014 calling the question demeaning to Andy, himself and the general public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n John put all his emotions down in an open letter<\/strong><\/a> to The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s co-editor-in-chief, who conducted the interview with Andy \u2014 and in it, he says, \u201cTo suggest that people are dubious of a friendship like mine and Andy\u2019s is to undermine the public\u2019s ability to accept and understand diversity in all facets of culture, be it in art or in real life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n ICYMI \u2026 THR told Andy, fans are \u201cdubious\u201d of his friendship with Mayer \u2014 in other words, people think they\u2019re banging. Andy responded, \u201cI honestly love John Mayer, and he loves me. But because we are so affectionate to each other, people don\u2019t know what box to put that in.\u201d He also flatly denied they\u2019re sleeping together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Getty Composite<\/span>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Anyway, John\u2019s issue is why the question was raised at all. As he says, \u201cI\u2019d like to think [the public is] sophisticated enough to see a relationship like ours without assuming it must include a sexual component.
