Bernard Hill<\/strong> \u2014 a character actor known for his roles in some of the biggest late-\u201890s and early-2000s flicks \u2014 has died \u2026 according to reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Multiple outlets are reporting Hill passed away early Sunday morning, saying they the news confirmed with Hill\u2019s agent Lou Coulson<\/strong>. Some of Hill\u2019s friends and former costars \u2014 like actress Barbara Dickson<\/strong> \u2014 also spread the news on social media<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Hill got his start in the film and TV industry back in the early 1970s via appearances on popular British shows like \u201cRooms,\u201d \u201cVillage Hall,\u201d and \u201cCrown Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n After a decade, he landed his first major role \u2026 playing troubled father Yosser Hughes in the TV miniseries drama \u201cBoys From The Blackstuff\u201d for which he received his first of two BAFTA nominations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n American audiences will remember him for his later work \u2026 he played Edward Smith \u2014 captain of the ill-fated Titanic in the 1997 James Cameron<\/strong><\/a> film and King Theoden in the second and third \u2018Lord of the Rings\u2019 films.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
