Anne Hathaway<\/strong><\/a> learned the hard way that most people don\u2019t read books anymore \u2013 that is if you watch the \u201cThe Tonight Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n This week, the actress sat down with late-night host Jimmy Fallon<\/strong><\/a> to promote her new movie, \u201cThe Idea Of You,\u201d which is based on the identically titled 2017 novel written by Robinne Lee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Midway through the interview, Anne was discussing the plot of the film in which her character, Solene \u2013 a single mom \u2014 unexpectedly falls for a younger boy band singer, Hayes, played by Nicholas Galitzine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Anne said she had amazing chemistry with Galitzine and knew from the get-go he was perfect for his role before turning to the crowd and asking, \u201cDid anyone read the book?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n For several seconds, there was dead silence in the studio as the atmosphere rapidly turned uncomfortable.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Then Jimmy hilariously came to the rescue, explaining, \u201cNo, we don\u2019t read. This is the \u2018Tonight Show.\u2019 Yeah, you wanna go over to Stephen Colbert if you want to get people who read books.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
