\u201980s hitmaker Kenny Loggins<\/strong><\/a> is peeling back another layer on the legendary recording of \u201cWe Are the World\u201d \u2014 revealing how he scored his pal Huey Lewis<\/strong><\/a> a solo when Prince<\/strong><\/a> bowed out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kenny spilled the tea on a recent episode of Huey Lewis\u2019 Apple Music show<\/strong><\/a>, as both artists were talking about \u201cThe Greatest Night in Pop\u201d \u2026 the Netflix documentary about the making of the 1985 charity record.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Huey says the doc helped him piece together lots of details about the recording \u2026 including the fact Kenny was the one who suggested Huey sing the line originally intended for the \u201cPurple Rain\u201d singer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

KL says he went to Michael Jackson<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 who co-wrote the song \u2014 and told him Huey was the best person to take over the line, once they learned Prince was no-showing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Huey perfectly belted out, \u201cBut if you just believe, there\u2019s no way we can fall\u201d \u2026 and the rest, as they say, is history.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
