Raimi directed a <em>Spider-Man<\/em> trilogy for Sony starring Tobey Maguire as the web-slinging superhero. Although Raimi last directed Maguire as Spidey in 2007&#8217;s <em>Spider-Man 3<\/em>, Maguire recently reprised the role for 2021&#8217;s blockbuster hit <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbr.com\/sam-raimi-spiderman-4-rumors-wondercon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Comic Book Resources<\/a>, Raimi addressed rumors that a fourth Spidey movie was in the works with him back at the helm and Maguire returning. \u201cWell, I haven\u2019t heard about that yet,\u201d said Raimi. \u201cI did read that, but I\u2019m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current <em>Spider-Man<\/em> [movies], and the track there, and I don\u2019t know that they\u2019re going to go back to me, and say, \u2018Well, folks, we can also tell that story!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Raimi continued, \u201cI loved <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em>. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it. I haven\u2019t talked to Tobey about [a fourth movie], but maybe Marvel has or Columbia Pictures. I just worked with Marvel on a movie called <em>Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em>. So, I\u2019m on great terms with them. In a 2022 interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/doctor-strange-2-sam-raimi-kevin-feiges-spider-man-genius-1235139869\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Raimi said about seeing <em>No Way Home:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"13\">\n<p>\u201cIt was very emotionally moving. I probably felt like the audience felt: \u2018Oh, there\u2019s my old friend, the old hero, who I haven\u2019t seen in 15 years. He\u2019s back.&#8217; And the way Tobey did that performance, it looked like he had lived kind of a hard life as Spider-Man. So it was really emotional and so well done, but it was also like spending an afternoon with old friends who I hadn\u2019t seen in 15 years. It was beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So even though Raimi sounds in the dark about <em>Spider-Man 4<\/em>, he&#8217;d still like to work with Maguire again. \u201cI love Tobey,\u201d said Raimi. \u201cI love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible. I don\u2019t really have a story or a plan. I don\u2019t know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don\u2019t know what their thoughts are about that. I haven\u2019t really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful.
