<\/p>\nExclusive<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n 12:06 PM PT<\/strong> \u2014 A source close to Travis tells us this is nothing more than a frivolous dispute between producers and has nothing to do with Travis directly.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Travis Scott<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s \u201cHighest in the Room\u201d has a catchy guitar melody that appears throughout \u2014 but one producer claims Travis and his team lifted it.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The guy\u2019s name is Benjamin Lasnier<\/strong>, who says he\u2019s a Danish music producer who\u2019s made beats for lots of people, especially rappers like Trippe Redd<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>Desiigner<\/strong><\/a>, Don Toliver<\/strong> and if he\u2019s right \u2026 you can add Travis Scott to his resume.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Lasnier says he wrote and recorded the guitar refrain featured in Trav\u2019s hit song, \u2018Highest,\u2019 back in early 2019 \u2026 which he then started shopping around to different producers, engineers and even artists themselves.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n He says he also posted this guitar recording on his IG stories 3 different times \u2014 although it\u2019s unclear if he still has them up or not for reference. Either way, Lasnier says he put it out there to more than 700k followers.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n Welp, around springtime \u2026 Lasnier claims he got in touch with a guy who works with Travis named Jamie Lepr<\/strong> \u2014 who goes by Jimmy Cash on IG, and apparently solicits beats. Lasnier says he sent Lepr a beat pack, which included the guitar melody in question \u2014 and with no formal deal struck between them \u2026 Lasnier claims he eventually heard a slightly tweaked version of his melody on Trav\u2019s new song in late 2019. He says a strikingly similar arpeggio appears around 24 times, which he says makes it the meat of the song.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Of course, Lasnier says he never explicitly authorized Lepr to use the music \u2014 and now wants his cut of the loot for what the song has gone on to make \u2014 which is a lot, BTW. He claims \u201cHighest in the Room\u201d has generated north of $20 million for everyone involved in making it \u2014 it\u2019s even had crazy success on the charts \u2026 reaching No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s Hot 100 chart.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n If you know, you know it\u2019s one of Travis Scott\u2019s most popular songs to date, without question.
