Richard Herd<\/strong> \u2014 who played George Costanza\u2019s Yankees boss on \u201cSeinfeld\u201d \u2014 has died.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The veteran actor \u2014 who\u2019s possibly best remembered as Mr. Wilhelm on the hit sitcom \u2014 passed away Tuesday at his home in L.A. due to complications from cancer.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Herd only appeared on 11 episodes of \u201cSeinfeld,\u201d but his time was memorable (and hilarious). He portrayed a (fake) New York Yankees executive who supervised George when he was the assistant to the traveling secretary, and would often give GC complicated tasks he\u2019d fumble his way through completing (or not completing, more often).<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Mr. Wilhelm eventually stole George\u2019s dream gig of scouting for the Mets \u2026 a great farewell to his character.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n Richard had many, many roles besides \u201cSeinfeld,\u201d though \u2014 he acted in huge films like \u201cAll the President\u2019s Men,\u201d \u201cGet Out,\u201d \u201cThe China Syndrome,\u201d and \u201cPlanes, Trains and Automobiles.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n On TV, he also appeared on \u201cSimon & Simon,\u201d \u201cMurder, She Wrote,\u201d \u201cQuantum Leap,\u201d \u201cSeaQuest 2032,\u201d \u201cDallas\u201d and \u201cHart to Hart.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n He\u2019s survived by his wife, Patricia<\/strong>, and his three children.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Richard was 87.
