(review<\/a>) bills itself as \u201cthe leading digital reading platform for libraries and schools worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n It claims to have the largest catalog of eBooks, audiobooks, and other media through a network of 45,000 libraries in 78 countries.<\/p>\n It really is one of the easiest ways to download free books from your local library.<\/p>\n The app is available for iOS<\/a>, Android<\/a>, Google Chrome<\/a>, and Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n After you download the app, follow the directions to use your library card to sign in.<\/p>\n Once you\u2019ve selected your local library and signed in, you can start searching for titles to choose from.<\/p>\n You can begin reading them immediately or download to use later while you\u2019re offline.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re browsing using allows you to borrow eBooks, movies, music, audiobooks<\/a>, TV shows, comics, and more!<\/p>\n And you can access all of this from your computer, Kindle, mobile device, tablet, or TV.<\/p>\n And you can download for immediate viewing\/reading or save for later.<\/p>\n To get started, you create an account by registering your email address and choosing the library closest to you.<\/p>\n Then you enter your library card information and PIN.<\/p>\n After that, you\u2019ll be able to electronically check out just about anything your library has to offer.<\/p>\n And without having to worry about if that book you wanted is already checked out!<\/p>\n And once the due date comes around, the item is removed from your device, so you don\u2019t have to worry about returning anything or incurring any late fees.<\/p>\n Hoopla also has a mobile app that is available on Apple\u2019s App Store<\/a>, Google Play<\/a>, and Amazon Fire TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n SimplyE is an app that is part of an open-reading platform Library Simplified<\/a>.<\/p>\n It is a program developed by several libraries and educational institutions nationwide, with the New York Public Library leading the way.<\/p>\n The SimplyE app is available on both the iOS<\/a> and Android<\/a> operating systems.<\/p>\n After downloading the app, log in with your library card and PIN.<\/p>\n To browse, tap \u201cCatalog\u201d at the bottom of the screen and swipe to look for popular titles.<\/p>\n You can also narrow your search by using the search icon, or sort by author or collection.<\/p>\n When you find the title you\u2019re looking for, tap on it to download and then tap the \u201cRead\u201d button.<\/p>\n And when the lending period is up, the title is automatically returned.<\/p>\n But be aware the app does not work with Android devices running on the Android 5.0 operating system or older.<\/p>\n And it does not work with the Kindle Fire or Kindle Paperwhite eReaders.<\/p>\n What if you\u2019re more interested in film, local music, local yearbooks, oral history projects, old town photographs, and more.<\/p>\n Another added benefit is there are no holds or checkouts, everything is always available.<\/p>\n You Books, a long-time maker of audiobooks.<\/p>\n However, this app offers more than just audiobooks.<\/p>\n Like most of the other apps listed here, you have to create an account using your library card and PIN from your local library.<\/p>\n And depending on your local library, you may have access to magazines, comics, newspapers, eBooks, and television shows.<\/p>\n In all, RBDigital has access to roughly 5000 libraries, including some of the biggest in the country.<\/p>\n And if you\u2019re looking to learn a new skill while you\u2019re waiting out a mandatory stay at home order, you\u2019re there, enter your library card information and PIN, agree to the terms, and log in.<\/p>\n After that you able to browse and borrow audiobooks and eBooks from your local library.<\/p>\n The app also allows you to sync the books across different devices, create custom lists of genres to search, save titles for future browsing, and advanced filters to sort by date or author.<\/p>\n The app is
