Kelly<\/strong><\/a> is a man truly trapped now that coronavirus lockdowns are in full swing \u2014 he can\u2019t get to his lawyers \u2026 even though prison officials insist it ain\u2019t personal.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Kelly\u2019s legal team tried going to see their client last Thursday at MCC Chicago \u2014 where he\u2019s currently behind bars \u2014 but we\u2019re told they were blocked from entering by corrections personnel \u2026 and officials told them it was all due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which has made its way to Chi-Town.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n We\u2019re told R. Kelly\u2019s lawyers not only wanted to check on his well-being but also to talk legal strategy \u2026 something they get together to discuss frequently, especially with the ever-mounting charges<\/strong><\/a> against the guy. That\u2019s all coming to a temporary halt, for now, it seems.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The last time R. Kelly had a face-to-face with his attorneys was sometime last week. It was right around then that everything started getting canceled<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n A rep for the Bureau of Prisons in Illinois tells us \u2026 jail staff is suspending visits for the next 30 days \u2014 but it sounds like they\u2019ll allow certain legal meet-ups on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n The rep says they\u2019re making their determinations with an eye toward avoiding unnecessarily exposing inmates and others. They say they recognize the importance of allowing the inmates access to lawyers and will try to accommodate that to the greatest extent possible.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n Circling back to R. Kelly \u2026 we\u2019re told his team is trying to work out a schedule to see the singer more often than what\u2019s being outlined here. Nothing\u2019s set in stone yet though.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n BTW, we\u2019re being told R. Kelly can still call his lawyers from inside the jail \u2014 but, obviously, that\u2019s not nearly as effective as an in-person sit-down.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
